Seeing Kyle Chandler step into the boots of Hal Jordan feels like an absolute masterstroke for the DCU. We aren't just getting another standard, glossy comic book adaptation; we're getting a seasoned, battle-tested, world-weary veteran pilot who has looked into the abyss, carried the heavy burdens of the Corps, and still manages to crack that dry, unflappable wit.

Pairing his grounded, authoritative energy with a gritty terrestrial mystery gives the Green Lantern mythos the prestige-drama weight it's always deserved. He brings the ultimate weathered mentor vibe to the badge-someone who has seen too much space-faring chaos, yet refuses to let the light go out. If this is the tone of the new universe, consider us fully locked in.

Eyes Without a Face - Billy Idol Hal Jordan played by Kyle Chandler

"And really... just that I'm a regular person, just like you."

That line makes Hal Jordan feel strangely different from the larger-than-life image usually associated with the Green Lantern. Beneath the ring, the uniform and all the mythology surrounding him, Hal is still just a person. Someone who has lived long enough to become experienced, worn down and complicated. The contrast between that ordinary introduction and the presence of an aging, legendary Lantern makes the character feel less like an untouchable superhero and more like a man trying to understand who he is when the title is stripped away.

Eyes Without a Face fits that idea almost perfectly. The song carries this feeling of emotional distance and losing sight of the person underneath the surface, which works beautifully with Hal's identity as both Hal Jordan and Green Lantern. Everyone sees the symbol, the pilot, the veteran, the hero- but what happens when you look past all of that? When the mask comes off, there's still just a regular person underneath, carrying everything that came before.

And maybe that's the most interesting thing about Hal: the man matters more than the legend.

Jo Mullein and Alan Scott!

This should round off all of our earth based Green lanterns from newest to… most experienced.

Jo is fairly close to her official design with just a few minor tweaks. Alan was the fun one to update, I went full wizard with his look, I’ll elaborate more on his slide.

Alan Scott, The Golden Age Green Lantern

He’s one I had overlooked for many years since many stories don’t acknowledge him as he’s not a part of the Corps. When researching him I realized he is more magic based than the sci-fi/emotional spectrum based. Though he’s kindof adjacently associated with them since the Guardians made the concentrated ball of mystical energy he gets his power from.

His power comes from a sentient ball of concentrated magic called the starheart. Apparently when he came in contact with it, it changed him so he is one with it and so he is no longer entirely human. And some stories have stated he appears human only because that’s how Scott seem himslf, implying he could technically look however he wants. The starheart was still made by the guardian’s because they feared the chaos magic brought, they just couldn’t contain all of it like they wanted.

So I went full magician with him, his face may look old, but he is still as fit as he ever was despite his advanced age (man’s been around since the 40’s) . I’m thinking of him like how young justice uses Jay Garrick’s flash as a final vestige of a bygone era.

I didn’t really have an angle on her look the same way I had for Alan, her design works for me so most of this was just adapting her to the format i’ve chosen for my lanterns with a couple of very minor tweaks.
