tintype portraits made for my recent cover story for @bonappetitmag - there are so many parallels between making this unique style of photograph & making a good plate of food. the care and intention behind each step of the process, the gratifying feeling of offering something that enriches someone’s life, and the unforgettable memory associated with the overall experience.

this 1850s style of photography has opened up pathways for people to preserve their lives in ways previously unheard of. with so many steps to this process i truly believe this to be a labor of love. the preparation cowboys & cowgirls go through inspires me to push myself to show up with hundreds of pounds of equipment to be present to preserve their heritage each weekend at different arenas throughout Oklahoma.

these portraits were made between the All in Cowboys Easter Rodeo & the @oklahomacowboys Langston Trail Ride in partnership with @langstonuniversity Oklahoma’s only HBCU. the layers of history involved in this story is nothing short of poetic. to have a black & white image on the cover of a FOOD magazine is historic in itself. honored to be a participant in this project and especially in this culture. another day closer to the rodeo.

I WILL NEVER GET OVER THIS!!! WHAT AN HONOR AND PRIVILEGE TO DANCE FOR HIS KINGDOM!!! 🥹🙌🏽🧡⭐️🕺🏽🫂

I will forever and ever be in awe of God! He is so intentional and so on time. I am humbled that He chose US for this assignment. Getting to share the gift He gave us for His glory and His glory alone?! Absolutely AGAIN and AGAIN use me as a vessel Jesus!!🙌🏽

Now this FAMILY that God blessed me with through this journey, I couldn’t be more grateful!!🥹 I had the opportunity to laugh, cry, cook, dance, share, workout, love, and so much more with these genuine souls that are on fire for Jesus. It was truly inspiring and my life is forever changed because of Jesus placing you all in my life!! Thank you fam for welcoming me with the most loving arms!! I miss you all so much and I LOVE YOU ALL FOREVER!!! 😭🧡🫂🤞🏽

MY FIRST AWARD SHOW WITH MY FAM❤️😭 thank you to @elevation.rhythm for taking SUCH great care of us throughout this whole process literally one of the best experiences of my life!
