Sometimes all you need is a midweek reset.

A cold beer, a good mate and a reason to stay for one more.

Happy Hour every day from 5–7pm.
Can’t beat that. See you at the Tav.

AI made me a video to the current song all over TikTok but got the happiness brief wrong and made it about my darling Dutchy who passed on my 41 birthday. 💔’#petloss#frenchbulldog

Congratulations to our Book of the Month winner, James - @burden.of.dreams. His Moleskine Photo Book Tutto Passa captures the quiet poetry of daily life in Italy through full-bleed imagery and nostalgic film tones, preserving fleeting moments in a format designed to last.

Congratulations as well to our runners-up, @her_wilderness, whose wedding book traces celebrations from Melbourne to London and Italy with effortless elegance, and @klasakphoto, whose magazine brings her safari adventure to life through striking wildlife and landscape photography.

✨️ The In-Between ✨️

The past few months have been so confronting for my own journey.

No longer who I was.
Not yet who I'm becoming.

Grieving the loss of the road already travelled,
whilst navigating a road ahead, I can't fully see.

A slow, unravelling of my old self.
The one I deconstructed & healed into.
Making space to become 'her'.

Pregnancy was so healing for my body dysmorphia.
Forced to let go of how my body looked & have utmost appreciation for what it can do, felt incredibly freeing.

But that chapter is now being rewritten.

I feel like a stranger in my skin.
Learning to make peace with a body that no longer feels like mine but still houses everything I am.

Navigating a new life without complete autonomy, freedom or routine.

I'm a woman in process.
Not broken, but becoming.
And I'm learning to meet her with kindness.

If you’re in the in-between too, feeling lost, messy, grieving who you were, unsure of who you’re becoming.

I see you.

Give yourself permission not to rush the process.
I promise there's magic in the mayhem 🩷

Congratulations Elizabeth & James !

Ten years of love, growth, and memories - renewed in the most heartfelt way. At the stunning Villa Alba Museum, they said “I do” all over again, this time with their two beautiful daughters by their side, witnessing the love that started it all.

No Typewriters / No Talking creates a physical space so you can create the mental space for you to do the thing.

If you’re actually reading the copy of this post: thank you. Your reward: we’ve got a session lined up in mid January at @temporubato_au. Tickets available now. Link in bio!

We often get asked why the no talking. Look, there are plenty of places to pow-wow and writers groups galore where you can go get feedback (usually from some mediocre dude who has read a Hemingway short story and a Plath poem and bestowed themselves an honorary Masters in Creative Writing). No Typewriters / No Talking is singular in its objective: we create a physical space so you can create the mental space to write.

The only way to get better at writing is to write.
So let’s cut the bullshit. Come write a thing with us in 2024.

Sign up now. Link in bio.

Our first season of No Typewriters / No Talking at the @immigrationmuseum_melb was a smashing success. Thanks to everyone who came down to write a thing in the cozy confines of the museum’s Discovery Centre. Details about season 2 coming coon.

Sessions were hosted in partnership with @museumsvictoria.

Who would have thought so many people disliked the sound of a) typewriters and b) other people talking? 2023 was super fun and the No Typewriters / No Talking Team has leaned a lot about how to run successful sessions and corral creatives. Do you have a favourite No Typewriters / No Talking moment or memory to share? Let us know in the comments 👇
