POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

What a beautiful and insightful weekend we had at the @oregontails - Jentle Method Workshop - hosted by @whitneytjones. @thelovepit showed up strong with 7 of our adoptable dogs, 8 volunteers/fosters and 2 of our HQ staff. I’m so freaking proud and honored to be surrounded by so many passionate and dedicated bully breed advocates.

I truly believe in the power of education and empowering our people, especially when it comes to successfully running a bully breed rescue. When we all have a deeper understanding of what these dogs really need to be at peace with life, we are able to rise above the challenges and self doubt, work together as a team and responsibly and safely save lives!

Everyone left with a deeper understanding of how to connect, feel, and guide a dog - including advanced dogs. Utilizing simple tools such a flat slip lead and figure 8 and learning how to consciously apply appropriate pressure and release as a means of support is a game changer for so many. The level of connection you gain as you walk in circles and aim to keep your dog connected and in the circle with you and only you is unmatched.

I went to the same workshop last year with Moira and the connection we built was a big reason why I ended up adopting her. This year was different with Harvey and I learned even more while working with a big, strong (but soft) dog that is constantly scanning his environment. I had several breakthroughs as Jonathan & Cole were teaching me how to challenge him with my leash handling/feeling and essentially poke the insecurity so we could address it little by little - like peeling the layers back bit by bit.

I have a lot of work yet to do and so much more to learn about the Jentle Method and I can’t wait to keep nerding out with it.

Next time they are in Texas, I highly recommend anybody with a dog to invest in the opportunity and attend. It’s unlike anything you have ever been taught in dog behavior and a game changer for those that can and are willing to open up to it.

5 stars yall! ⭐️

Hi! I'm Bueno. I am temporarily having a long sleepover with this cool lady who has been working hard to make sure I am the best version of myself. She keeps me busy, let me tell ya! Sit, wait, stay, down. She insists I ask before I enter or leave a room. Much less the house. I absolutely love my crate! She says I'm a perfect gentleman on leash. Sometimes, I get really excited when I see other dogs. I just want to PLAY! RIGHT NOW! So I've been working on calming down with my hooman. She thinks I'll need a family who understands too. So I can continue to grow.
I love it when her small(8+) hoomans visit. She made me wait forever to meet them- slow introductions are best, she says.
If you're looking for the perfect dog to complete your family, head on over to the love pit. @thelovepit And let's have a meet and greet. I'd love the opportunity to meet you all.
