Today's #FacultyFriday feature is part-time Modern Dance Instructor LaRodney Freeman.

LaRodney has been performing since he was 5 years old, starting out as a thespian. He first began dancing under Anna Ashy as a member of Alief Jazz Ballet here in Houston, Texas. Since then, he has worked under the guidance of many esteemed instructors and choreographers. LaRodney is currently in his 9th season with NobleMotion Dance and his 6th year with HOPESTONE Dance. He also teaches a wide range of classes and ages throughout the Houston area in addition to HBA, and is the Dance Shop Coordinator of Workshop Houston in The Greater Third Ward.

"What I find to be the most rewarding in teaching modern dance to the Academy is the ability to foster the creativity of the dancers. In addition to the technique and breathing effectively, self-expression and creativity are among the most important things that I teach. Being able to find your own voice can help dancers navigate in a world of uncertainty. Being able to be yourself in any room, in any studio, provides the dancers with a great level of freedom. To have the capability to adapt in any situation sets the dancers up to for endless possibilities."
