49 years of legacy. One bold vision.

What began with Vernon Jarrett’s vision has become a national platform that continues to shape generations of young Black excellence.

As ACT-SO closes its 49th year and looks toward its 50th, the mission remains the same: empower, inspire, and create opportunities for the leaders of tomorrow.

Honored to capture a small piece of a legacy that’s still being written.

How do you speak up? 🎤

For every ACT-SO participant, the answer is different—but the purpose is the same.

This is what “Speak Up” looks like through the voices of the next generation.

Honored to capture the 49th Annual ACT-SO Competition, powered by the NAACP.

🎤 SPEAK UP.

This week marked my first time covering the 49th Annual NAACP ACT-SO National Competition, and what an incredible experience it has been.

For 49 years, ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics) has celebrated some of the brightest young minds in the country—bringing together students who have earned their place on the national stage through excellence in STEM, business, visual arts, performing arts, humanities, entrepreneurship, culinary arts, and more.

This year’s theme, “Speak Up,” came to life in every performance, presentation, and conversation. These young people aren’t just competing—they’re leading, creating, and showing what’s possible when talent meets opportunity.

I’m honored that Goodboy Multimedia was trusted to help tell this story through cinematic recap films and digital media that will continue sharing the impact of ACT-SO long after the competition ends.

This is more than creating videos. It’s preserving moments, capturing purpose, and helping organizations communicate their mission in a way that inspires people around the world.

Here’s the first of three ACT-SO films from an unforgettable week in Chicago.

Thank you to the NAACP for the opportunity. Looking forward to sharing more from this amazing experience.

Seven years of pure joy! 🎂 She laughs hard and loves even harder. May God continue to protect her heart and her life, and continue to guide us as we raise her.

She wanted two things for her birthday: pink hair and beads. LOL! Shoutout to YouTube for helping Mommy make it happen. 💇🏽‍♀️✨

Happy 7th Birthday to our favorite girl! 💕

ACT-SO in Motion.

We are so proud of @actsodc alum Aria Jackson ( @itsariajackson ) on the debut of her first book of poetry-From Here to There. Aria travelled with the Washington DC ACT-SO team three times to the national competitions in Cincinnati, OH, Baltimore, MD and San Antonio, TX competing in Poetry Performance and Oratory. In 2018 Aria and 20 other ACT-SO students were chosen to participate in a week long Arts and Entertainment Intensive in Hollywood, CA. During the intensive students participated in master classes with industry professionals and attended the NAACP Image Awards.

Aria graduated from Loyola Univeristy in New Orleans with a major in Theater studies and minor in Women’s Studies. With over 12 productions under her belt, Aria now calls New Orleans home where she has built a career as an actress, model and writer. She is living in her gifts and talents out loud.

Join us in welcoming Aria home on her DMV book tour.

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

As we reflect on the history and meaning of Memorial Day, we also lift up prayers for the families who carry the weight of that sacrifice every day.

May we never take freedom for granted. ❤️

Pastor @leapsofjoy preached an inspiring word this morning about the importance of being fruitful. "Wherever we are, there should be evidence we spent time with God . . . What is the visible evidence of Christ living in us?" Tune in to @zionanywhere and @zionchurch every Sunday for a great word and unmatched music from @wearezionmusic.
