Still thinking about this one. 🖤 Getting to bring my live set to Smartbar and share the night with Brenda and Grace Dahl was something special.

You can feel how much Chicago loves techno!! Thank you to everyone who came out, locked in, and brought that energy. Felt the love heavy in that room. 🖤

Apologies for the room audio on the clips, but I had to share a little bit of the vibe because DAMN. 😮‍💨

Chicago and my Knobcon synth fam, thank you for showing me so much love! 🖤

And a special thank you to my good friend LaSpacer for the hospitality, friendship, and making me feel at home while I was in Chicago. Appreciate you big time.🦾🫶🏽

Massive thank you to Sandra for taking all these videos and pics to capture the moments! 🙏🏾 @colectivomultipolar

This Saturday 8/29 - R&D: JUANA, LA SPACER, JS ALVAREZ

9pm-3am 21+
$10 before 10:30pm /$20 After

Originally hailing from Chicago, Juana is a veteran selector who has been making dance floors move since 2001. Her sound is deeply rooted in the raw, underground spirit of her hometown, with an undying penchant for Midwest techno. She has a background blending rare grooves, disco, techno, and deep house, which quickly made her a central figure in Washington, DC. She was a founding member of the influential Sequence collective, helping to establish a darker, more industrial techno aesthetic in the capital.

Natalie Murillo (aka La Spacer) has focused on experiencing the evolution of Chicago’s house music and Detroit’s techno, and the underground global dance craze phenomenon influenced by these two sister cities in different parts of the world since the late 80s. Based on La Spacers’ posteriori knowledge she produces other-worldly hypnotic rhythms with house & techno music as their foundation.

JS Alvarez is the founding member of Research & Development which ignited in the iconic Chicago mainstay of Smartbar. R&D also hosts a biweekly podcast 100+ episodes deep ranging from rising talents, hometown heroes and well established DJs and producers from North America and around the world.

The year is 2016 and you’re on a sweaty dance floor at a Southside bar que se llama Junior’s surrounded by dykes and queerssss! 🥵 That was TRQPITECA’s party and to many of us la primera vez to be surrounded by folks that looked like us and were queer af. 👀 WHO REMEMBERS THOSE PARTIES? 👀

💋 We’re SO excited to bring @trqpiteca to Golosa on September 6 at @newrosechicago 🌈

TRQPITECA is a DJ duo and production company founded in Chicago by La Spacer & Disc Jacqui (fka Cqqchifruit). Since 2015 they’ve been producing events that celebrate self-determination and expression through dance music. Ranging from parties in nightclubs and art galleries to public festivals, TRQPITECA has been a platform for hundreds of artists, musicians, and DJs exploring the intersections between art, dance music, and identity. They bounce between tropical house and bass, hard techno & bass breaks, trippy acid & trance, high BPM jungle & juke in their DJ sets and live hardware performances, and you can catch their TRQPITECA.fm show live on Lumpen Radio every 1st & 3rd Monday from 4-6pm!
