This finish proved something I already knew. Whenever I decide to, I do not need much motivation either external or internal. Discipline is something I honor. I understand people who have a complicated relationship with it. I suppose they have observed it, and not experienced it for themselves if they truly question it.

For me discipline provides freedom, great marathoners taught me that. Fleeting desires fade into the background. Habits and routines make long term goals inevitable. Routines are just another tool.

This time I had colleagues, family, old friends and newer friends waiting for me at the finish line. It meant a lot to me that they were there to share my moment, but I hope it held meaning to them in their own stories and journeys. I observed others do these things before I decided to do them myself, and some will hopefully be inspired to continue or start their own adventures from seeing me do the loop.
