sandcastles and hammers.

when something looks effortless, it most likely took an insane ammount of effort to make. It's easy to stare at the glimmer and shine when everything flows and feels cohesive, we as humans are naturally built to enjoy it. but it's easy to fall victim to survivorship bias. we take good art as granted, and are more likely to notice only when something is "wrong".

It's almost as if art nowadays can be seen as reductive process. you start from a perfect delicate idea, and chip away the shape with a heavy hammer until it's time to show it to the world.

When in reality most of creative it not chiseling away the marble statue, it's like building a sand castle. you build it towards the sky towards your dreams, and what ultimately stands is the end result of that passion. if everything comes together, the castel stands tall. but if the foundation is bad, if the sand is not right, if you build to too close to the waves, it will not stand.

the process is growth. all the steps you must take forward and backward yourself. there is no shortcut, no easing off the gas. as the castle walls grow, it will only become more difficult and more complex to make the towers hold strong. only easy day was yesterday and tomorrow this will only become harder.

learn or burn. 🏴
