Thanks for the great words about “Nation Nation” @lastdaydeaf

“[“Nation Nation”] is loud, catchy and restless, with enough melodic bite to keep the chaos firmly under control. Bright guitars, dark impulses and absolutely no brakes.”

@lastdaydeaf features new @spsbandla single "Nekrogeddon" out of @babyrobotrecs, writing:

"SP’s kick open the door with Nekrogeddon, a furious blast of distorted guitars, thunderous drums and a bassline that gives the track a surprisingly heavy backbone. The opening feedback quickly erupts into a restless, tightly wound groove, while Steve Albertson’s vocals push between manic intensity and sharp, confrontational delivery. There is plenty of noise and attitude here, but the song also has a strong melodic instinct that keeps the chaos under control. Nekrogeddon channels frustration with the modern world into something loud, physical and immediate, with the band balancing punk aggression against darker, heavier textures. The result is raw without feeling careless, and energetic without sacrificing its sense of purpose. It is a track built to hit hard, whether blasting through speakers or landing in the middle of a sweaty live set."

@lastdaydeaf features new @joerianmusic & The A.M. Drinkers single "Amarillo," writing:

"Dusty roads, wild nights and roots rock with a crooked grin... Joe Rian’s Amarillo rolls in with a dusty Southwestern feel, driven by twangy guitars, a relaxed country groove and a weathered vocal that sounds perfectly at home on the open road. There is a loose blues rock character running through the track, with the Hammond organ adding a warm vintage glow to the arrangement while the rhythm keeps everything moving at an easy pace. Built around a road trip story filled with reckless choices and desert scenery, the song has a cinematic quality without losing its rough, lived in charm. Rian and guitarist Peter Christie give the track a natural chemistry, while the combination of country, blues and roots rock keeps Amarillo grounded in classic songwriting without sounding overly polished. It feels like music made for long drives, dusty bars and stories that probably should not be told twice. Dusty roads, wild nights and roots rock with a crooked grin."

@lastdaydeaf features new @kazmurphymusic single "Old Protest Records," writing:

"Murphy digs into the roots of folk and Americana on OLD PROTEST RECORDS, turning a love of old protest songs into something loose, earthy and distinctly his own. Acoustic guitar sits at the centre, surrounded by fiddle, mandolin and a touch of bluegrass warmth, giving the track the feeling of an old record playing somewhere on a wooden porch... [it's] less about polished nostalgia than keeping an old musical language alive, with Murphy weaving fragments of the songs that shaped him into a new, flowing piece. It feels weathered, human and slightly ragged around the edges — exactly where this kind of folk song belongs."

THE BODY /TRACK BY TRACK
Realized I had this left from #thesongforlorn to break down. Around the time I wrote this, I had just fallen & sprained my foot but also had problems with aural migraine & anxiety attacks.
I should see a shrink but songs are my shrink.
It’s fascinating how the body takes care of your mental issues, making them physical issues.
So smart, our human construction.
The body says, ”Hey, wait a minute… think, check out, slow down”.
At the same time, you have to work with your body.
Take care of it, nurture it. It all works in tandem.
Keeping your body in check is hard work…
Sometimes you hate that it shows its presence …
An aching back! A bulky belly! A sore head!
Things that prevent you from enjoying life as you wish. Sometimes you just want to leave it be, ”let your soul take flight.” Yet when it works, the body is the gateway to the highest pleasure. The weather in your bones, on your face. Swimming in the ocean. Human interaction. When everything works is when you get the most out of life. You can’t beat it, so I guess you should join it?
@nicoleatkins I first met many years ago on tour with Peter Bjorn and John. We met up again in Nashville a few years ago (pic 2 by @mixtapeforever ) to write.
I wanted her to sing on this ’cause I thought of her energy hearing the track. It’s less of a duet, more like we’re becoming one voice, at a karaoke bar belting and battling!
Me and Nic co-wrote ”Tripping on Teardrops” her current single and opening track for her forthcoming STELLAR album #drama brilliantly produced by @sansonica_music Don’t miss out on that!!
#thebody is garage-rock-pop but a sultry sort.
It has that classic ”on-off” dynamic.
It’s me, @andreasnordell @kylejeffreycrane … but in the chorus, Kyle didn’t ”rock” enough, so we overdubbed @kellernino as well. So there are double drum kits, an old Sex Pistols trick but then they overdubbed the whole band. I’m lamer than that! I included some bloglove that wrote about this back when cause why not! #nicoleatkins

@lastdaydeaf features new @spsbandla single "Ripper" out of @babyrobotrecs, writing:

" 'Ripper' hits with a raw alt-punk garage energy, balancing jangly guitar work with an emotionally exposed vocal performance. The guitar hook gives the track an immediate melodic pull, while the locked-in bass and drums keep everything moving with a restless, forward-driving momentum. Beneath the rough-edged surface, there is a strong sense of heartbreak and vulnerability, especially as the arrangement builds toward its more dramatic bridge. The contrast between the furious instrumentation and the personal subject matter gives the song extra weight, while its scrappy production keeps the performance feeling direct and unfiltered. A bruised, buzzing garage-rock anthem where heartbreak gets turned into pure forward motion."

@lastdaydeaf features new @thejetblackberries single, "Rocketfire Sex66" out of @propellersoundrecordings, writing:

" 'Rocketfire Sex66' [is] a swaggering collision of punk, glam rock, power pop, and psychedelic garage energy... bring[s] a playful, theatrical edge to a track inspired by sci-fi, Western imagery, and classic rock excess. Propulsive rhythms, gritty guitars, and charismatic vocals give the song a raw, energetic feel, while its tongue-in-cheek space-pistolero concept adds plenty of personality and humour. Drawing on the flamboyance of T. Rex and the New York Dolls while retaining a scrappy punk attitude... deliberately retro without feeling overly nostalgic... loose, colourful, and full of rock ’n’ roll swagger."
