Last chance, Folsom! The Big Top comes down after Monday. Circus Vargas has just two days of shows left in Folsom — today and Sunday — before “Masquerade” wraps up its run at Lakeside Church. From high-flying acrobatics and incredible family performers to laughs, audience interaction and motorcycles roaring inside a giant steel sphere, there’s still time to experience the animal-free traditional circus beneath the massive white-and-blue Big Top. Look for our multiple Circus Vargas stories on Folsom Times, where we’ve taken readers inside the Big Top and introduced some of the remarkable people behind the show. Links to official tickets can be found in all of our stories. Two days. One final weekend. Then the circus rolls out of Folsom. #CircusVargas #Folsom #FolsomEvents #Masquerade #FolsomTimes

The Big Top is up, the lights are on and Circus Vargas is once again bringing the magic of the traditional circus to Folsom. This time, we went inside the Big Top to experience “Masquerade” firsthand — and from the high-flying aerialists and incredible acrobatics to the laughter, audience interaction and roar of motorcycles racing inside a giant steel sphere, it’s an experience that delivers plenty of thrills for all ages. Circus Vargas has found a way to preserve the joy of the traditional traveling circus while keeping it fresh for today. The entirely animal-free production puts the spotlight on an international cast of human performers, with high-wire artistry, juggling, comedy, specialty acts and plenty of moments that have the audience gasping, cheering and laughing together. Just as memorable is the intimacy of the Big Top itself. The performers are only feet away, the hospitality makes guests feel welcomed into the Circus Vargas family, and there’s something refreshing about watching children and adults alike completely captivated by live entertainment without a screen between them and the action. “Masquerade” continues at Lakeside Church in Folsom through Sept. 21. We went beneath the white-and-blue Big Top for the full experience and came away with one conclusion: this is a traditional circus experience well worth seeing while it’s here. The Big Top has risen in Folsom, and the circus is back in town. Circus Vargas’ massive white-and-blue tent rose above the corner of Oak Avenue Parkway and East Bidwell Street Wednesday as crews transformed the grounds at Lakeside Church for the arrival of the all-new 2026 production, “Masquerade.” Running Sept. 4-21, “Masquerade” will fill the Big Top with aerialists, acrobats, high-wire performers, juggling, comedy, specialty acts and motorcycles racing inside a steel globe. Elaborate costumes, music and lighting join an international cast for a production built around live human performance just feet from the audience. The tent raising continues a Circus Vargas tradition stretching back more than half a century. Founded in California in 1969, the traveling circus still brings its own theater from community to community, building a temporary venue at each stop before packing it up and moving on. This week, that home is Folsom. The familiar Big Top may be back, but what happens beneath it is all new for 2026, offering families a chance to put down the screens and experience the thrills of live circus entertainment together. The tent is up, final preparations are underway and Friday it’s showtime!
