Marking World Press Day, on Sunday May 3rd,to honour the journalists of Palestine - those still working tirelessly, risking their lives to tell us the truth; and their compatriots who have been murdered by the IOF whist doing so. This is a repost of the poem, written in March 2024 in response to a photograph taken by a fellow member of the North Devon Solidarity Campaign, of a stunning life-sized mural just outside London, depicting the first three journalist who had been killed in Gaza since October 7th 2024. That number is today 260, as recorded by the CPJ (the Committee for the Protection of Journalists)
It was a turning point for my practice and my work has, since then, I hope, been an honouring of not only the journalists and their families but the entire Palestinian people. @palestinianartists @psc_capetown @psc_ukzn @plant.eenolijfboom @amsterdampalestinacoalitie @amsterdampalestinacoalitie @robert_martin_palestine_ @palestinenetwork @palestinejapan @chiquiratoisuta @erevravnl @dmieneke
