Congratulations to Lauchlan Whelan on being selected 16th overall by the Windsor Spitfires in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection.

The world sees an incredible hockey player but daily we get to see a respectful, caring and passionate young man that maybe says “thank you” a little too much.

While Friday is an incredible milestone, the journey is only beginning. The next chapter is about continuing to develop, embracing the process, and doing the work required to help yourself and the Spitfires organization succeed.

We know Windsor is getting a player who brings energy, creativity, competitiveness, and character to the rink every single day but the work doesn’t stop here. A big (the biggest yet) offseason lies ahead, and we’re excited to be a small part of that journey.

Proud of you, Lauch. Congratulations to you and your family on a well-earned achievement.

✨️ 2026 OHL DRAFT RECAP✨️

Congratulations to the seven Quinte Red Devils players selected in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection Draft!

QRD history was made on Friday as it was the first time ever that two Red Devils were selected in the first round. Lauchlan Whelan was pick 16 to the Windsor Spitfires, and two picks later Andrew Laurin was drafted by the Ottawa 67s.

Quinte was the top OMHA organization in terms of number of draft picks.

Your dedication, sacrifice, perseverance, and commitment to your development have earned you this incredible opportunity. QRMHA is proud of each of you and can't wait to watch your journey continue at the next level.

Whether your name was called during the draft or not, your hard work, character, and growth throughout the season have been outstanding. The U16 draft is one milestone in a much longer journey, and every player should be proud of what they have accomplished so far and where their path takes them next.

Thank you to all of our 2010 players. You represent this organization with pride, loyalty, and respect. Keep chasing your goals. Your story is still being written. We can't wait to follow along!

Locked in. 🔒

We continue to learn about building on a strong foundation through dynamic movement, reactivity, and learning how to produce and redirect force efficiently. Just as important, our athletes learned that games, competition, and having fun are critical pieces of long-term athletic development too.

Strong. Athletic. Adaptable.

𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟱.

It’s been great seeing some familiar faces return, welcoming new athletes into the mix, and starting to feel what Summer 2026 is going to look like. The energy is building, the standards are rising, and we’re proud to continue being the home of Quinte’s best.

If you want to be challenged, supported, and pushed to improve, this is the place.
