COVER REVEAL 🍂

1901 seems to be a year in between so many groundbreaking technologies. The lightbulb and electrical grids in 1880, the steam turbine in 1884, the modern automobile in ‘86, the first airplane flight in 1903 and in 1901, RADIO (wireless telegraphy). Gugliemo Marconi receives the first transatlantic wireless radio signal in 1901 in Newfoundland which is what this book is about.

But it’s also a book about a friendship between two smart kids who on the outside seem different. One who is always longing for “away” and one who is content to say home. What they do have in common is an inquisitive and inventive mind and it’s this that leads them to an event that changed the world forever.

“Wireless” written by @laura.alary and illustrated by me, releases Spring 2027 with @nimbuspub and will be available for preorder at the end of the month. I will keep you posted!

If you work in Children’s Ministries or love finding new Christian picture books for your littles, don’t miss out on this new book!

It takes tremendous skill to take complex topics and pair them down to simple elements at the heart of each church season.

Yet, @laura.alary has done it again in creating beautiful wording paired with gorgeous illustrations by @claire.westwood.art to illustrate the key focal points for each season of the liturgical church year.

This picture book published by @beamingbooksmn is perfect for all ages for a Children’s Moment or as a supplement to introduce the start of Advent or other seasons.

Happy Book Birthday!

Some books gently invite children into the story of faith, and Around the Circle by my friend Laura Alary is one of them. With warmth, wonder, and beautiful imagery, it helps young readers experience the rhythms of the church year in a way that feels welcoming and full of hope.

I’m especially fond of this book because the illustrations are by Claire Westwood, who also brought my own book, The Gift of Baptism, to life. It’s a joy to see her beautiful artwork paired with Laura’s thoughtful words. If you’re looking for a meaningful resource for your church or family, this one is well worth discovering.

This richly illustrated picture book reminds kids that gardens grow so much more than vegetables. As Grace helps her neighbor tend to his garden, she helps him solve a problem and also discovers why Larry grows hundreds of tomato plants each year. A wonderful book about gardening that encourages sharing, community care, kindness, and compassion.

Jubilee Jumps for Joy gives a wonderful story of grief, faith, and culture @brentomjackson I just love how you weave it all together. @alexaldrichbarrett you give such gorgeous life to Jubilee and her story. Around the Circle is a new staple in my collection @laura.alary it feels like bringing Godly Play to life! @claire.westwood.art is one of my favorite illustrator and I was to plaster our children’s space with your beautiful images. We are so lucky to have both these books in the world 💕🌈

The Curious Life of Cecilia Payne

Cecilia Payne loved learning to see nature’s wonders, even things other people called impossible. While studying at Cambridge, she dreamed of becoming a great astronomer like the ones she read about in the library. But too many people thought women didn’t belong among stars or atoms.

So, Cecilia packed her bags for Harvard, where she could surround herself with women who also loved astronomy and physics. These “Harvard Computers” shared their treasures with her—thousands of photographs of starlight. Cecilia found a way to read the patterns in these photos and started asking big questions. Could these photos show her what stars are made of? What if they showed Cecilia something all the great astronomers called impossible?

With stellar gouache and watercolor art and thrilling scientific details, this biography is a loving tribute to the joy of curiosity, the value of community, and the struggle to find confidence in your own voice. Extensive back matter helps readers learn through an author’s note, timelines of Cecilia’s life and of discoveries that led to hers, a list of Cecilia’s honors and awards, and resources for further reading.
