Celebrating two years working with the Irish National Opera and 20 years of the Solstice Art Centre!

In another instalment of catching up and looking forward, tomorrow night I have the pleasure of sharing the stage and joining a host of spectacular artists as part of the @irishnationalopera’s Gala Celebration the 20th anniversary of the Solstice Arts Navan. This wonderful programme features some of the great hits of the operatic repertoire where I will have the pleasure to conducting works by Verdi, Mozart and Offenbach. Most importantly though I will have the honour of sharing the stage with star Soprano @claudiaboyle , international and local legend @seanboylanmusic , my insanely talented colleagues and friends from the INO Studio, @lauraahernemusic, @heathersammon, @davidkennedymusic and @helga_mezzosoprano and on top of that, something I can’t recommend highly enough, I am lucky enough to share conducting duties with the incredibly talented and inspiring @ryanbmcadams!

While this concert will be a joyous occasion it will also be bitter sweet as it marks end of the my two year journey as Assistant Conductor and member of the INO Studio. It has been a deeply meaningful and impactful two years and I want to express my thanks to @fergussheil, @diego_fasciati, @muireanns and all of the wonderful INO staff, the brilliant creative teams, the fantastic musicians I got to make music with and the fantastic conductors I got to learn from over the two years. Here’s to two wonderful seasons, future collaborations and new adventures in opera, whatever and wherever they may be!

Reflecting on a wonderful month playing Mr Rushworth in the @operacollective_ireland production of Jonathan Dove’s Mansfield Park! This was such a fun time, particularly because of one of the funniest and kindest casts I have ever had the pleasure of working with! It was also a nice perk to perform in my hometown of Dún Laoghaire. Huge thanks to Patrick Mason, David Parry, Ross Smith, Colette McGahon and everyone involved in this wonderful show! Back in the Netherlands now, just in time to participate in the International Vocal Competition in ‘s-Hertogenbosch!

LOVE. PASSION. SCANDAL. 👀
“We’re sisters. I’m older.”
“I’m younger, but I’m prettier.”

Meet Maria and Julia Bertram, played by Laura Aherne and Diana Salop - sisters at the heart of the family drama in Mansfield Park.

What should you expect? Love. Passion. Scandal. A lot of scandal.

Fun, breezy music, a few familiar musical references - and their own advice:

“Come for the opera. Stay for the tea.” ☕
