Thank you to all the folks who joined us down south—despite the last minute summer rainstorm!—at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum for the first info session of the 2027 festival season. Our Sunset Party was a beautiful reminder of the talent, creativity, and generosity in the O, Miami community! See all the photos, captured by @chantal_lawrie, at our link in bio. 📸 We heard from past project managers, unveiled a permanent poetry vestaboard in the museum’s model train room, introduced “La Versicleta” to the public for the first time, and experienced a handful of festival projects reimagined as mini-workshops and tabling activations. Shoutout to @gcrm for hosting us and to @smashin_down_south for coming through and feeding our people! 🍔 We’re accepting project proposals for the 2027 O, Miami Poetry Festival now through October 15. Talk about a good Tuesday. I chatted with @amandaseason at @exilebooks who's taking copies of my book to @printedmatter_artbookfairs Next I dropped off more books at @dale_zine where I talked with @vanesssa_diaz_ , an ur example of what I love about Miami. After that I popped into Michael's Genuine for Happy Hour where I enjoyed my favorite beverage (it's called "Literally Good" and it's practically medicinal) and introduced the drink to @melodyjmusicwilson who's new to Miami (and fits right in) and is a new friend. Then I was off to the @omiamifestival Fracturing Forms writing workshop led by @laurachildsgill where we all read each other's pieces in a silent crit. And then I hopped in my Mirage for a most divine drive home on a balmy night with the windows down. The day was LITERALLY GOOD.

Through weekly reading, writing, and reflection, this generative workshop focusing on the lyric essay—a hybrid literary form that blends memoir and personal essay writing with elements of poetry—offers new tools and structures to explore the self on the page.
