Congratulations to Madison Elizabeth and Zach!!! Thank you to everyone who attended their wedding and has reached out to them, Jennifer Thomas Clayton and I. We were extremely happy to celebrate with each and every one of you. Those of you who could make it, you were sorely missed. (Don’t worry, we had a drink for all of you) There are so many people that we need to thank for making this day so special, that I’m afraid I’ll miss someone, but Delaney, Morgan, Taylor Lee, Laura, Doc, Tyler, Jake and Matt, THANK YOU all for making their day so special and the reception as memorable as it is.

Somehow it still feels like yesterday that I was a timid freshman standing outside Sarah Simms’ Practical Horse Management I class, terrified to walk through the door and unsure if I truly belonged here. I remember leaving that first class just knowing this was where I was meant to be.

When I came to Centenary, I doubted myself more than anyone probably realized. I hoped I would find my place somewhere within the program, but I never could have imagined how deeply this place, these people, and especially these horses would change me. They brought out a confidence and passion in me that I didn’t even know existed. From riding classes and business courses with Tim Cleary, traveling to IHSA Nationals with Heather Clark and Michael Dowling, competing at CJL and Princeton with Tara Clausen, learning a new discipline with Mallory Chambers and Centenary IDA, and becoming a PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor with the guidance of Karen Brittle, @kayla_thau , and @_emilyykingg — every experience shaped me into the person I am today. Working as the Rehab Rider with Dr. Jesslyn Bryk-Lucy and taking courses with Jess Colantuono, Dr. Taylor, and Kelly Munz gave me the privilege of learning from people whose passion inspired me every day. Some of the greatest lessons I learned never came from a classroom. They came from the teammates beside me, mentors believing in me, and the horses who left a mark on my heart that I’ll carry forever. Somewhere along the way, Centenary became so much more than the place where I earned my degree. It became my second home. The barn became my safe haven — the place that I ran to on some of my hardest days and gave me some of my best memories. I’m leaving with a degree in Equine Studies with concentrations in Training & Instruction, Equine Business Management, and Therapeutic Horsemanship Management — but more importantly, I’m leaving with a full heart and a version of myself that I never thought I could become.

Once a Cyclone, always a Cyclone. 🎓
