I’M BACK!! 📕

I’ve missed the #bookstagram community so much over the past 18 months. But I definitely needed the time to reflect. Here’s what I’ve been up to:

1. Started tattoo sleeves on both arms
2. Started weightlifting
3. Left my job at EPA (starting a new one next week)
4. Continued reading a lot of books
5. Started a MBA in Marketing program

When I saw that M.L Steadman had a new book coming out I immediately purchased the book. I loved her previous book, The Light Between Oceans.

👯‍♀️This is a book that is best read with a friend. @elysesepilogues pushed me to read this ASAP and then I joined a buddy read with @rachellelovesbooks, @amy_alwaysreading, and @laurasnextchapter. Thank you for discussions as there is so much to unpack!!

🦘Based in the late 1950’s Australian on a sheep station, We follow the lives and tragedies of the MacBride Family who have lived and worked on the land for generations. I was instantly drawn to the historical backdrop of this part of Australia and the family drama that is described.

🦘It is hard to put into words how I feel about this book. It is a slow read that you need to have time to appreciate the flow and prose of the book. You need to read the synopsis and just launch yourself into the story. The writing is beautiful and I couldn’t stop tabbing my pages.

🦘I tandem read this book and I would highly recommend eyeball reading before you pick up the audio. This is a book that digs deep into what happens when something bad happens between humans, the secrets we keep and how they can impact the trajectory of our lives. The land at Meredith Downs is its own character and ebbs and flows along with the characters of the book, time elapsing and to reflect the history in Australia. You will equally love and be mad at the characters in the book, but isn’t that a part of the human condition? I have told everyone who has seen this book that it is a must read this year. As of now it is in my top books for 2026.
