4th of July. Celebrate? Dissent?
Here’s a little throwback of Hope from when sanity won out. We were making a COVID film (stage not possible) with a ragtag cast and crew and this day felt like a MASSIVE celebration.
Taking place in real time, just after the election was called-just six short months after the mourning the murder of George Floyd.
Celebrating the day and featuring 1 of 14 Minnesota landmarks/ landscapes. Coming together with messages like gunsdownMN, blacklivesmatter, hope, kindness, peace, love, equality, dissent, girlpower, speakout.
MAGA came at us, youth with kids as young as nine, but we moved forward. And danced.

In that day, the weight of the country lifted for a bit and we were able to celebrate. Celebrate diversity, collaboration, artistic protest!

It’s hard to believe we are where we are right now but the Twin Cities have lead this entire county in unity, inclusion, diversity, peace and equality.

We were not there to fight this time but on this day- I just want to thank and congratulate every Minnesotan who fought, who supported, who loved and who never gave up. Happy 4th!!
