The @nashvillemarimbasessions 2026 festival was absolutely fantastic! This festival has changed my life in so many different ways. I got to learn and study with some of the world’s top percussion educators and performers, create lasting friendships, and change how I approach the marimba and think of music entirely. This has been my most favorite festival, conference, and vacation I have ever had.

I am so very grateful for the faculty Ji Hye Jung, Ivan Trevino, Emmanuel Séjourné, and Nancy Zeltsman for coming together and sharing their ideas with us. I have made more friends in 1 week than I have in the past several years. If you’ve known me for a while, you know that I do not smile much, especially in pictures. However, I don’t believe I have ever smiled so much in such a small time frame. I think that for the first time ever, I felt a strong sense of belonging. Thank you to everyone who has helped create this event to be so memorable for me. I look forward to seeing you guys again in the future. A special thanks to my friends who performed Séjourné’s “Sosso-Bala.” It was easily my favorite piece, and I enjoyed every second of hearing you guys play.

Thank you guys again for reigniting the fire I have for music and percussion, and giving me a taste of what to strive for. I owe my future to y’all. Most importantly, I would not be here if it wasn’t for God’s help. He is ultimately the reason why I was able to travel to this event. Also just turned 22. Even though the festival started 2.5 weeks ago, I definitely consider this an early gift.

NMS26 has been another week of collaboration and learning that has changed my outlook on music ❤️ So good to see some new faces at Blair as well as some old friends :)

I hope that this festival continues to outdo itself every year in fun (and logistical efficiency) and that I can continue to be a part of it 😻
