Where to even begin? I’ve had one of the most amazing weeks, starting with last Thursday’s long-awaited press night of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s aspects of Love, produced by Nica Burns, with an incredible cast – the jewel in the crown being the one and only Michael Ball, who debuted in the role of Alex, 34 years ago and is now returning Sir George Dillingham. It has been incredible to sculpt the role of Giulietta Trapani opposite Michael- he is an absolute legend of an artist and a human being, what a joy it has been. The King of musical theatre himself, Andrew Lloyd Webber, has also come to visit us, tweaking the final details in orchestrations, dialogue, and even the ending! To work with this iconic, prolific and extremely intelligent and sensitive composer, on his own creation- to receive his approval and his hearty support for the show along with librettists Don black and Charles Hart has been nothing short of extraordinary for the entire company. The opening was a huge resounding success, and wonderful friends, like Bruno Tonioli, Simon Callow, Sebastien Fox, Leslie Macleod Miller, Kathy Lette, and many others came on the opening to celebrate with us (and gorgeous arrays of flowers in my dressing room from amazing friends who couldn’t come on opening, like extraordinary Cate Blanchett and the amazing Alfie Boe!). It was also thrilling to be dressed in a handpicked lilac silk georgette creation from the incredible Archive of the late Vivienne Westwood along with the divine Olympia collection from Van ClArpels for whom I am a brand ambassador. The look was all about giving some rock and roll power to femininity! And Laurence Close did my whole beauty turnover from Giulietta back to me in less than 32 minutes! But it didn’t stop there! The following day after three hours sleep (kids!), and having gotten locked out of the theatre on opening night, I sang live on radio 3 with the amazing Sean Rafferty on his show In-Tune, and then raced to the theatre for show number 2… (see next post) @nimaxtheatres @aspectsloveldn @andrewlloydwebber @mrmichaelball @brunotonioliofficial @kathy.lette @viviennewestwood @vancleefarpels @laurence_close @beniaminox
