I’m very excited to announce the launch of Arts First: an idea and dream that has made the leap from my brain to a real thing!

As an artist and grantmaker who’s worked in philanthropy for the last 20 years, I’m thrilled to combine my two passions. Arts First is an artist led collective arts fund that mobilizes resources for creative communities. By pairing the know-how of grantmaking professionals with the imaginative and generative thinking of artists, we’re reimagining philanthropy as a space of empowerment, accountability, and transparency.

Thank you to my incredible board, launch crew, seed funders, friends and family for your support in bringing this vision to life. Follow along at @artsfirstfund and see you at our launch party: June 14th at the South Shore Cultural Center!

Chicago, you still have my heart. I came back skeptical, allergic to nostalgia, and unsure how I’d feel after being away for so long. Well, I’ve loved being here and spending time with so many of you and didn’t expect to feel this emotional about leaving. I am already looking forward to being back very very soon. 💙💙💙

Celebrating @hello.hvk is so easy and to celebrate her in Maui amongst her gorgeous and amazing friends was sincerely an honor. To see how Heather is adored, appreciated and loved is inspiring. We had such a wonderful time together gasping our way up hills on cruiser bikes and enjoying the sunset with ALL those COLORS!! Laughing til we cried multiple times in the “fanciest” of hotel lobby’s 😉 I’m beyond glad I can say I have better, deeper and new relationships to walk away with as a bonus. What a gift you are HVK. The shiniest of lights. I am so lucky to call you my friend. I love you AFNMW💚

Lauren is our fearless Marketing Director. She's been with CS since '23 and is one of the brightest smiles at every staff and volunteer meeting! 🤍

Emily is a volunteer with @comfort_film and we've had the good fortune to have her keen eye on board since 2017! 💙

When you see Lauren and Emily at a CS event, make sure to say hi, they'd love to talk about your experience at Comfort Station!

Chicago is a vibrant city, rich in culture, art, architecture, music, food and so much more. There’s no shortage of things to do, or hidden treasures to discover. Writer @laurenmviera has put in the time to round up the best off-the-beaten-track places and interesting details in her book, The 500 Hidden Secrets of Chicago.

This book includes neighborhood maps as well as the top 5 places for a late night bite, cafes for sitting a spell, places to go dancing, vegetarian restaurants and our favorite, plant and flower shops! With 500 recommendations, there’s no shortage of places to explore! Perfect to have on hand for visitors who want to avoid the typical spots, as well as seasoned Chicagoans looking for something new.
