Our most recent Artist Showcase: Gonna Be Just Fine by @laurentidd
.
From Lauren: “Gonna be Just Fine” is a song I wrote about my personal struggles with mental health during the pandemic. The last two years have been quite difficult on many people in several ways, and for me it began to negatively impact my mental health. I am the kind of person who strives to see the good in everything and has a quite positive overall outlook on life, so when I began getting depressive episodes it was especially confusing for me. It was like my mind was having a constant battle with itself; not understanding why I felt so down but could also recognize and be grateful for all I had. One lyric “life’s not a game, but it’s better played than waiting around on the side watching it pass by” especially relates to my situation because I started to miss out on events or things I once enjoyed because of my depression. It was extremely frustrating, and it was important for me to come to the realization that life is short, and I needed to figure out how to work on improving my mental health because I did not want to waste any more time feeling that way. The healing journey is not linear, and there are still some hard days, but seeking the help you need and putting your mental health first is crucial to starting that journey.
