It’s been a while since we showed a week in the life!

These photos don’t even capture a portion of it, safe to say I am everywhere all at once.

New York Times, two events, friends in town and still learning a hell of a lot about a new business that I really really love.

I’m learning so much about myself, like the end of the busiest weeks are often the ones I smile at the most. I am at a point in my life and career that I get to be creative in so many different ways. It is challenging and the most rewarding.

If you haven’t made it down to our little neck of the woods in Carlton, I hope you do. Between @haywardrestaurant @luckyduck_or @astralpdx and celebrity @revelmeatco appearances there is so much magic happening right now.

Forcing myself to slow down on this Monday morning, and the first thing I can come up with is to cook. That is always how I know I am in the right place ✨

You may not have thought it would take such a village for this quaint little shop but boy howdy!
Thanks to our Carlton community for welcoming us with such warmth, kindness, curiosity, and enthusiasm. Seeing so many familiar faces (and meeting so many new ones) has made this first week more special than we could have imagined.

And to our incredible teams at Hayward and Lucky Duck: thank you for pouring so much heart, hustle, and care into bringing this little shop to life. Every pastry baked, coffee poured, shelf stocked, table wiped, and guest welcomed has helped shape what Lucky Duck is becoming.

We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to keep growing with all of you. Cheers to week one. 🦆

Ever wondered what it is like to start a new business?

Here is just a glimpse of our past few months. Crazy? Absolutely, but we are having a blast.

From the first walk throughs, picking colors & design, watching @contextwoodworkingllc work his magic AGAIN.

Getting a food truck?! never thought I would!

Moving in maybe a bit early, buying possibly one too many rugs AGAIN.

But best of all, having friends who put their all in to this with us. So many people are not pictured here that deserve all the credit in the world.

I don’t know guys, this is feeling very very special ✨

3 years of Hayward ✨✨

There are not enough photos in my camera to measure all of the memories but this gives you an every day glimpse into what I see. And boy is it beautiful.

A dream is just a dream without the right people to build it and hold it up.

I have been so lucky with those who have walked through our multiple doors. Past and present this team continues to amaze me with their thought, care and intention around this restaurant.

We have endured so much change and growth together, I can’t wait to see what the next three hold for us!

Thanks to all of our wonderful guests, we hope you keep coming to our rug and lamp loving space, it would be nothing without you.

And to our incredible friends and farmers, you have no idea how much you mean to me, Hayward truly wouldn’t exist without you.

a week ago today i found heaven on earth. a little spot called Alvin’s Island in south beach miami (can’t recommend it enough!) from the second laura and i stepped foot inside we knew we had found our home. peace washed over me. we returned every day we were in miami just to get a hit of the good stuff (keychains, magnets, t shirts, hats, sweatshirts you name it!) they say wherever you go there you are…… but i’d rather that be here. at Alvin’s Island.
