December 10th, 1985. 40 years of Latino America Unida, Lambda Alpha Upsilon Fraternity, Inc. 🔴🌕⚪️⚫️ I was just a baby faced freshman when I crossed in Spring 2017 at UConn. Little did I know at the time that this fraternity would give me some of my closest relationships, push my growth, build my leadership, and ground my identity. Feeling grateful, nostalgic, and proud to be part of a legacy bigger than myself… nunca olvides La Ley y VENCEREMOS PORQUE NACIMOS PARA TRIUNFAR. 🦅

Lambda Day Awards Banquet Recap! 🦅

Founded on principles of brotherhood, scholarship, and community service, our fraternity has thrived for 38 years, leaving an indelible mark on the rich tapestry of our diverse heritage. Last weekend, we came together not just as individuals but as a powerful force united by our shared values and unwavering commitment to uplifting one another. The evening was filled with joy, laughter, and the recognition of outstanding individuals.

Hermano David Rijo (SPR ’19) won the Alumnus of the Year Award for his exceptional contribution to our organization and being one of the main reasons LAU is currently at Rutgers University.

Hermano John Ogando (SPR ’18) currently a Rutgers PA-S2 was awarded The Robin Arturo Gonzales Scholarship. He was given $3,000 to help him cover his tuition cost.

Congratulation to all recipients and here's to celebrating our past, present, and future – to the incredible journey that lies ahead, and to the unbreakable bond that unites us as Hermanos. ❤️🤍🖤

¡Venceremos Porque Nacimos Para Triunfar! 🤞🏽🏔️🦅

In the next couple weeks, we will be highlighting some of our Hermanos who are currently in the field of medicine🩺🥼

Up next is Hermano John Ogando (Ξ | SPR’18) who is is currently a PA student at Rutgers University👨🏽‍⚕️📚

Why did you choose your field?

"I will be honest if I start the story of why I chose to pursue becoming a PA, we would be here all day. Long story short, for as long as I can remember, I have always been fascinated by how the human body works, what happens when things go wrong, how to fix those problems, etc. In high school, I volunteered over 700 hours in the emergency room of my local hospital and was exposed early to the various roles in the healthcare team. The role of the PA caught my attention from day one. During my undergraduate career, I worked as an EMT and ED-Tech continuing to expand my knowledge of healthcare. Now, I am grateful to have been granted the opportunity to fulfill my dream of becoming a PA. I am currently in my first year at Rutgers University and am super excited for what is yet to come!"

We wish you the best in your continued practice Hermano! Venceremos!🤞🏽

Congratulations are in order for Hermano John Ogando who attended the SHP Celebration of Impact ceremony last night and for being one of two PA students selected to be ARGOS Scholars‼️ He was awarded a full-tuition scholarship for his demonstrated appreciation for the challenges that underrepresented populations face in healthcare! We are extremely proud of you Hermano 🙌 Keep up the amazing work!
