A wonderful evening wander to St John’s Kirk overlooking Gardenstown. Guided by knowing fern lined paths we drifted with the sweet scent of honeysuckle on the June wind. There on a bench of memories wrapped in the dappled golden light of the waning sun we toasted those who paved our way to this day with a gentle wee dram of @tamnavulinwhisky The Beginning Of Forever! @laws_33 @mogofarmuk @rab.equipment @findyourbirds @johnodonohue.anamcara @time_raps @aberdeenshire_explorers @aberdeenshire @scotland @hiddenscotland @thegardenarmshotel @gardenstowncottages @seahaven_holiday_cottages #ourscottishfairytale #gardenstown #gamrie #scotland #aberdeenshire

Yes, yes we know, the festive season has faded into the sea mist here in beautiful Gamrie / Gardenstown. But, only a matter of weeks ago this is a wee reminder of the magical moments we shared in our village by the sea in Aberdeenshire… @laws_33 @aberdeenshire @aberdeenshire_explorers @thegardenarmshotel @lindashearerwhiting @brewdogofficial @hiddenscotland @scotland.explores @jmdoleman @ben.bush.3532 @kristian_lannen @christmasvideos @colsion

S A M H A I N I give all to you this evening My thoughts from this day So lead me into the storehouse of winter Of land and sea and rain Of distant moors and granite cliffs Stood steadfast in the North wind Lead me into your storehouse Of land, sea and rain.. The deep knot it weaves It binds and it holds The deep knot it weaves It winds and it folds The deep knot it leads All to find and to know The deep knot it leads All kind to be whole She seemed at rest today At least here, under our low sun For distant waves lift the helm of her skirt In far off lands where the summer visits Warming my neighbour How our lives are woven together. The deep knot it weaves It binds and it holds The deep knot it weaves It winds and it folds The deep knot it leads All to find and to know The deep knot it leads All kind to be whole We share the same sky Our hands slip from the plough as we stumble Our very fabric torn as we gasp for breath For some living water and oil for our lamps That we might venture deeper into our own night To find the knot that weaves, that binds, that holds... The deep knot it weaves It binds and it holds The deep knot it weaves It winds and it folds The deep knot it leads All to find and to know The deep knot it leads All kind to be whole Tonight we are held @laws_33 @petalthestore @thegardenarmshotel @poetryfoundation @thepoetrysociety @halloweenvibesofficial @spookyhalloweenofficial @bandofhorses #ourscottishfairytale #gardenstown #gamrie #scotland #ferniebraefarm #ferniebraefarm #aberdeenshire #halloween

We have had the most amazing anniversary adventure around the Greek Islands. Our first stop was the beautiful Santorini where we stayed at the stunning @klostra.gr hosted by its wonderful manager Dimitri. It was an oasis of calm in the village of Finikia where we also ate at the incredible @lefkes_santorini Next up Naxos… @laws_33 @santorini.explore @santorini @greece.explores @visitgreecegr @discover.greece @europe_explorers__ @__europe_explore @europexplores @findyourbirds @sony.unitedkingdom @goprouk #anniversary #love #greece #santorini #santorinigreece #thesamestar

SEPTEMBER 4 / FRIENDS It has been so wonderful to have one of my wife’s dearest friends Dawn come to stay at Fernie Brae for the last two days. I feel like it is a good test of a relationship when your partner’s (hate that term, what’s a better one?) friends become your own, because you can see and feel how much they light each other up, love, support and bring out the best which is a joy to witness. This morning we freely laughed like children with Brae (our bearded collie bestie) as we walked down to the sea led by dancing butterflies to swim in the September sunshine… @laws_33 @dawniefreeman @beardedcollie @beardedcollieworld @leescarrott @visitaberdeen @thegardenarmshotel

The month of September feels like a time to breathe and reflect on the light and shadows the summer has brought us. The season is changing and nature will soon let go again without pride or shame in longing return to autumn’s gentle embrace… We will try to share a daily image that somehow captures our journey here on Fernie Brae Farm towards the wonder of autumn.
