⚠️ Road Safety Tips ⚠️

My bud @lawyerwriter asked for some road safety tips from @cyclopolitan so here’s three:

⚠️ Bike with the flow of traffic, especially in the !@?% bike lane! This is my biggest pet peeve: trying to obey the law and be in my safest spot on the street, and seeing some knucklehead coming at me in MY bike lane.

⚠️ Ride the line. When you’re in the bike lane, if there are cars parked to your right, ride on the leftmost side of the lane, on the left painted line if you need to. Why? Dooring is the #1 cause of cycling crashes! Stay woke; stay left.

⚠️ Do not worry about what cars think. Especially about your pace. If you’re on a one-way road and you have cars parked to your right, take the full lane. If you’re going 5mph and they start honking and hollering: LET THEM. You are legally entitled to this choice, and you keep on slow rollin down the middle, sis. Haters gon’ hate.

Did I mention how writing “HONK IF YOU LOVE BIKES” on the back of my helmet was my greatest idea ever?
