Hey everyone! My son Silas @fakie2switch needs surgery for a blown acl and meniscus that he sustained in the terrain park @brightonresort. He also tore cartilage from his femur which will require another surgery.
If you know Silas and his skiing, he’s unforgettable. His style, big heart and sparkling eyes are infectious. He was raised skiing in Vermont and spent hundreds of hours on his trampoline and in hip hop dance classes. His view of the world and his place in it was cultivated through movement and in the snowy mountains of VT and UT.
If you’ve ever had an injury that has stopped you from doing what you love, then you know the challenges @fakie2switch is going through.
Add in the loss of work (making skis for DPS!) and limited mobility…we have a recipe for a heavy heart.
Many folks on this platform know my son. And you all know your own driving passion for snow covered hills and what the expression of skiing offers us.
Please consider sending Silas some kind words of support or donating to his GoFundMe page. Link is in my bio!
He has a road of recovery ahead of him and we can all make that time a bit easier by sharing some L❤️VE.
Thanks for being here and keep the positivity flowing…we all need it 🙏

Last week I stood in a dense powder glade with my son, tucked away from the hum of people and simple machines. We had spent the day looking for untracked lines amongst islands of conifers by traversing back and forth across the mountain. We were in search of something…..
We had just come to a rest after weaving together some short steep turns, catching our breath and beaming. The sound around us was heavy and soft. Billions of six sided snowflakes were insulating us from a hectic world pace beyond the glade.
This space. All the snow rich spaces and fresh canvas to play on. In our ballooning energy of the previous run we talked about our flow between trees, snow found and received. Each turn offered us an opportunity to gather energy from the fresh powder and transfer it to our feet, skis, legs, hips….extending to the breath in our chests. In the act of receiving from this snowy landscape our body regulates and the mind stills. Only here.
Right now.
The landscape gives when we show up. These hidden pockets of skiing are a gift.
How do you say thank you for such a generous offering?

Gratitude for these opportunities to play and commune in the mountains are the foundation to protecting them.

nothing happens to the wise man contrary to his expectations: we exempt him, not from the accidents, but the blunders that befall men, and everything turns out for him, not as he wished, but as he thought.
