Dakar in my DNA

A visual love letter to Dakar, accompanied by the poem by Senegalese poet /Rapper Xuman. @gunmanxuman
:
Dakar the shy, Dakar the capricious
Dakar the coquette, Dakar the tumultuous
Dakar traditional, but open to the world and curious
For some even, Dakar is a holy and pious land It's Senegal in miniature
There's something for all tastes and all kinds
A foot in the tradition but the head already in the future
Dakar as a thièp is a great broth of cultures Insomniac, DAKAR does not sleep on its laurels
To conquer one's heart one needs a trade
To be a fisherman Lebou of Soumbedioune,
A morning saleswoman of the Sandaga market,
A shoemaker from the Medina,
A street vendor on the highway,
A market florist Kermel .... When you walk in the streets of the village of Ngor
It is the melancholy that invades you
Let the smell of smoked fish get you drunk
feet in the sand of Pointe des Almadies And at night, when Dakar is adorned with its finery She sublimates these Cinderellas in search of love, it masks the ugliness of its alleys, she also hides the tears of her rebels. Look how she likes to be in the ocean Her only rival is herself ... the moon is witnessing it Blaise Diagne, Lamine Gueye Sheikh Anta Diop, Senghor Left traces of their heroic efforts Welcome to Dakar the cities of a thousand colors the cities of meeting all the flavors Dakar will not leave you indifferent, his smile is a flower Dakar will mark you as a tattoo on the heart

Repost from @filmpinsociety

“Creative community and camaraderie is the backbone to great cinema. Filmmaking is inherently collaborative. I am very inspired by my friends and colleagues in the industry and feel a sense of true kinship. We learn together, create together and share knowledge with one another. It helps us grow individually and collectively.”
