Fastest lap of a 1:00.3 from @gridlifeofficial @circuitlegends!

This event wasn’t aimed at setting my PB though (which is a 59.8), but rather getting back in the car after the crash at Watkins. I’m glad I pushed to get the car fixed (mostly) and get back out there.

Mentally, feeling good again and pumped to fix the car over the offseason and come back swinging next season!

Despite my best efforts, something is still a bit off in the subframe or suspension as my caster was off 2 deg side to side in the front. This led to the car feeling really wiggly under braking/high speed and turn in felt non linear/unsettling. Overall, I just didn’t have confidence at the car near the limit so I stayed about 8/10ths for the weekend just to get some seat time and bring it back home.

Off track, this event is just the best! The people, the track and the karaoke were just incredible and it was a great way to end my 2026 Gridlife season.

Excited to come back stronger next season! Thanks to all my partners helping me go fast!

Midwest fest was a tale of what-ifs this year unfortunately.

I went out for my first session on Friday morning and after my first flyer, noticed my pace was way off. I figured it was me just not driving well enough so I tried throwing the car around at the absolute limit and still crossed the line a full second slower than my PB last year (which was a shit lap with lots of low hanging fruit).

I checked the max speeds on the Garmin and I was 8mph slower into T11 compared to last year (with no mechanical/aero changes to the car). So I thought maybe it was bad ethanol (left over from CMP). Drained the tank, put new E85 in that tested well and went out for the last session on Friday and it was even worse. Noticed the RPMs all over the place down the back straight and wasn’t going anywhere.

Confirmed during a grip/drift session the clutch was definitely slipping. What I didn’t realize until later was in addition to that I did not have VTEC engagement 😞

So thankfully @eric_kutil_racing let me buy his spare clutch, we tore the car apart Friday night and got the new clutch in. All to go back out Saturday morning and still be slow AF without VTEC (which I still didn’t notice yet). Finally thought about what else could cause power loss mid Saturday, found a VTEC solenoid thanks to @rise_vtec and then discovered Sunday morning looked full of rain.

At that point I hung up the towel and just decided to have some fun (which up till that point I was just full working/diagnosing the car). Sucks to admit defeat but operating on no sleep (and the new clutch disc didn’t like the old pressure plate/flywheel) I wasn’t going to set the world on fire either.

Bummed because I think the car and me had a sub-1:40 in it this year, but that’s racing sometimes. The positive was that we had a massive crew this year and it was an absolute blast. @rjoellenh got to come as well and it’s always special having her around for a track weekend, especially this one!! @gridlifeofficial put on a banger of a weekend as usual, even if the car wasn’t cooperating.

I’ll get everything fixed up for Watkins and hopefully be competitive again! Thanks to all my friends and partners!

Grateful for the opportunities God has given me for my final collegiate indoor season. Not the ending I pictured but nevertheless all glory to God. Onto Outdoors.
