PRAISE. LEGACY. LOVE. PURPOSE.

I praise God for the gift of my beloved Mommy, Pastor Pearline B. James, and for all she instilled in me. One of her greatest lessons was the gift of helping others and giving from the heart.

Last evening, I was deeply honored to support Central Boston Elder Services (CBES) and make a heartfelt gift in Mommy’s honor through the Pastor Pearline James’ LOVIN’ Gestures Fund, fiscally managed by Give Black Alliance.

Walking into the room, seeing so many of our beautiful elders, hearing Jim Brett, watching the moving video, and listening to my dear friend Sylvia Exantus, CEO of CBES, speak about the work they do to support older adults, people living with disabilities, and their families and caregivers, moved me deeply.

When Robert Lewis Jr. made the call, I immediately raised my paddle. I simply asked myself, “What more can I do?” It was an opportunity to put into action the values Mommy taught me.

There is such a beautiful connection between Mommy’s fund and CBES: both recognize the importance of caring for those who care for others. The LOVIN’ Gestures Fund supports family caregivers, while CBES supports older adults, people living with disabilities, and the caregivers and families who stand beside them.

Sylvia, thank you for your leadership, friendship, and the incredible work you and your team do every day.

I praise God for Mommy’s life, her legacy, and the privilege of carrying her spirit of love, generosity, and service forward.

Mommy, your legacy lives on. ❤️
