R E S P E C T! That was the theme of today’s Fitness Friday at Morris Avenue School. Mrs. Kurdyla spoke to the whole school on the importance of treating others the way we want to be treated. She highlighted 3 ways we could demonstrate respect in school: Using kind words, listening ears, and gentle hands appropriately. Mrs Kurdyla had all students use their scarves to participate in a game of what respect looks like through the use of various “scenerios”. Students shook their scarf up high when they agreed the picture demonstrated respect and then shook it down low when it was an example of something that was not respectful. Students were engaged, followed directions, and it was a wonderful exit ticket to access who understood the topic of respect discussed! Special thanks to Mrs. Kurdyla for a wonderful lesson 💚🌊

A huge thank you to the Long Branch Fire Department for visiting the Morris Avenue School today and teaching our students about the importance of fire safety. Our students learned valuable lessons about staying safe and the important role our Firefighters play in protecting our community. How lucky are we to have such wonderful community partners who take the time to educate, support, and care for our youngest learners. We are grateful for your time and commitment to our students and families. 💚🌊

Today at Morris Avenue was both PJ Day and Twice-Twin Tuesday where friends paired to dress alike or wore favorite pajamas to show we all belong and are better together 💚🌊

What a fabulous Friday with a peek captured in a short reel. We celebrated our custodians, had several EZ Ride Assemblies, awarded Tucker The Turtle to support SEL, continued to talk about our family posters with peers, and continued to learn more about the Family Theme through TOM Program. 💚🌊

A big shout out to the Night Custodians here at Morris Avenue! We are thankful for all you do and hope you enjoyed the cards and signs our students created. The bigger lesson is actually involving kids in the process, and having them witness reactions of those we are celebrating 💚🌊

Our first Fitness Friday of the school year at Morris Avenue did not disappoint! Mrs Dynak provided the students with an opportunity to get active while learning the connection between physical movement and the concept of self-regulation. She incorporated fun, developmentally appropriate activities that encouraged students to move, listen, follow directions, and practice stopping and starting their bodies. Through movement, students strengthened their ability to manage energy, control impulses, and refocus! Thanks to Mrs. Dynak for helping to build healthy habits for our students minds and bodies! 💚🌊
