Thanks to @awd_directors founder Jennifer Warren and Executive Director @kylie109 for hosting a wonderful dinner connecting phenomenal women directors— the #AWDIcons—with a phenomenal group of writers and showrunners of some of my favorite shows, from Power, Claws and Big Cigar to Law & Order, SuperGirl and Arrow. It’s important as creatives that we link up and get to know one another and especially important that women directors are given visibility and support. I was honored to participate and discuss our passions for storytelling, the current state of our industry and our determination and commitment to continue writing, directing and producing incredible TV shows! Three and a half years ago when I first decided to confront the @directorsguild about their lack of a parental leave policy I knew I couldn’t be alone in my convictions that this was an obstacle to parity and inclusion in filmmaking. What I didn’t know is how much support I would receive from artists who generously used their platform and power to amplify the message. AND IT WORKED! As of June 23 the DGA ratified contract has A NEW PARENTAL LEAVE POLICY!!! Victory!! Best birthday present a girl could wish for.

I’m endlessly grateful to @brookeposch @alma.harel and @anniesartor for being the partners that this campaign needed. Literally was impossible without you.

Thank you to the many, many directors, actors, and activists that signed onto the campaign. Y’all truly showed up! I love you.
