It is with sadness but full hearts that we publicly announce that after 6 years, Lyrics By The Lake has officially come to an end. After much consideration, we believe that the show has run its course. We are beyond grateful for the overwhelming amount of love and support that this community has shown us from day 1. We could have never done something like this without you all showing up and showing out. We want to thank each and every person that ever purchased a ticket, a season pass, or a vendor spot. We are forever grateful for every artist that has graced the Lyrics by the Lake stage and shared their gifts with us and our audience! Thank you to every person that ever contributed to help make Lyrics by the Lake possible! 🙌🏾

We thank The NCMA Winston-Salem, formerly known as the South Eastern Center for Contemporary Arts (SECCA) for graciously opening its doors to us until it had to close for renovations. We are appreciative of the partnership that we had with the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County for the past 7+ years, which financially helped us to bring this vision to fruition.

While it is bittersweet we recognize that sometimes good things must come to an end and year 6 is the last chapter in the LBTL book. We accomplished something beautiful by creating opportunities for artists near and far to be paid for their gifts. For 6 seasons, we brought people together from multiple generations to laugh, sing and be in community with one another. We created a space where people felt safe, where people felt seen and where people felt heard.

If you purchased a ticket for the August show, you should have received a refund. For vendors who purchased a spot, we will be in touch soon, please be patient with us.

Again, thank you all for being the incredible “Lakers” that you’ve been! 🌊🌊🌊

I have many favorite poems to perform and "My hair, my hair" is definitely one of them for obvious reasons.

It is so much fun every time and it truly is a reminder to love on all the kinks, coils, and curls that come with MY HAIR! Ya hear me!?

Shout out to everyone who stayed past 2am and still engaged FULLY with me and the last remaining poets for @intlblacktheatrefestival 2026 Midnight Poetry Jam July 30th!

Cheers to 25 Years of Midnight Poetry Jam and all the AMAZING poets who graced the stage (s) over the years! @lbthepoet you are deeply appreciated for keeping it going! Thank you! And thank you to all who made the 25th anniversary a special and beautiful celebration.

If you've never experienced Poetry after midnight or the Midnight Poetry Jam, do yourself a favor and take your day nap and get your life!!! Love it every time.

I just know @malcolmjamalwar and @thelegendaryblackice would have been there with fireee rhythm and poetry again if they could! May they rest peacefully and may their legacies live on in the messages they shared when they were Earth side. Asé

📹: Very kind audience member (Thank you!)
