🐻🏃🏽‍♂️🇩🇪 Berlin Marathon ‘26. Finished in 3:06:08. Placed Men’s 50+ 253. Placed 4729 overall. Marathon 52 of 2026 and Career Marathon 94.

52x4 = 52nd marathon this year, 52 years of the Berlin Marathon, 52 years since the start of Frontrunners and celebrating my 52nd 🎂.

This is my third year running Berlin in a row.

2024: 3:10:07
2025: 3:19:22
2026: 3:06:08

Top learning: Decided if it’s more than 12c max on the day I’m not trying for a sub 3. Heart rate optimal whole race but pace wasn’t there. First half 1:30:38 (plan was 1:29:00) second half 1:35:30 (plan was 1:31:00). 4 minute 52 second positive split, clearly body was tired was “poor” in terms of recovery. I just couldn’t push it second half and accepted a sub 3 or low 3 wasn’t happening. Anyhow I’ll take it, drops my average down from 3:13 of all majors, think I’m done with Berlin and want to do other non major races now. Looking forward to Vantaa Helsinki amd Skopje North Macedonia marathons next week before Chicago the following week.
