A few months ago, I forgot how to jump into a pool. This week, I remembered how to surf.

6 months post knee surgery, my body’s been relearning the basics. Walking. Jumping.

I actually stood at the edge of a pool and just… froze.

Reconnecting my muscles to my brain has been frustrating and really painful.

I paddled out on a longboard and just wished for one taste of this stoke

And when i caught a wave and stood it really didnt feel real

A body that heals is a small, ordinary miracle.

And even more magical when rainbow cracks over Waikiki on your paddle back out.

The ocean doesn’t negotiate.
And neither does a broken body.

You can’t muscle a wave, bully the wind, or rush a knee to work again.

This is tasting something sweet for the first time 3 times 😅

Back home in the Keys🏝️

When I was gone for 5-6 months for my knee surgery, I didn’t realize how much I would miss this place…

People call me lucky for living here, but I always kind of laugh

I wouldn’t have chosen to live here, I haven’t found many friends here after 1.5 years, after being injured, I barely even go to the beach or explore the water (the best part about this place)

Ive even definitely felt trapped here for some time, but honestly, the Keys have brought some of the most unexpected fruits.

If you go where life pulls you and listen to your gut, there’s prosperity and joy that lives on the other side of the really hard parts

Like knee surgeries
Like the feeling of being alone in a new city
Like working your a** off for a dream

I came here for a boy #sillyme but promise to appreciate this paradise and ride the wave of life now that I’m back 🤍

And if you wanna visit the keys and have been curious about kiteboarding… definitely keep your eyes peeled 👀👀👀
