Kennemer Golf & Country Club, Zandvoort 🌾⛳

🏆 SCORES 8.8/10 on @leadingcourses · 4.8/5 on @hole19golf · @officialtop100 : 4.5/5.

📊 STATS 27 holes across three 9-hole loops — A (Van Hengel/Pennink), B (Colt/Pennink), C (Colt) — combining into three 18-hole configurations:

• A/C: Course rating 74.6 · Slope 138 · 6,288m

🌿 CONDITIONS Described in 2025 reviews as very well maintained — greens fast, links fairways in excellent shape, staff friendly and welcoming. Large driving range plus chipping and putting facilities. The squeaking wooden floor of the thatched-roof clubhouse is a feature, not a bug.

📖 ORIGIN STORY Founded in 1910 — one of the oldest clubs in the Netherlands — relocated to the dunes of Zandvoort in 1928. Three architects shaped what exists today: Harry Colt laid out the original dunes routing, Frank Pennink extended and redesigned significant sections, and Jan van Hengel (after whom the A loop is named) served as a transformative club president who shaped the club’s modern identity. The thatched-roof clubhouse and the undulating duinscape catch you the moment you turn in.

🎯 COURSE VIBE Pure links golf in the Dutch dunes — wind, fast greens, natural hollows and three of the most notorious bunkers in European golf. The three-loop format means every visit can be a slightly different course — smart routing that keeps it fresh. Handicap certificate required, private members club — invitation or guest access only.

🏁 BOTTOM LINE The Kennemer is simply one of the finest golf experiences in the Netherlands and genuinely one of the great links courses in continental Europe. Wind will punish you, the dunes will humble you, and that bunker on the approach to the flag will absolutely ruin you — and you’ll book again before you’ve even finished your post-round drink ⛳

Italy has so much to offer golfers, and Sicily is definitely one of those destinations worth discovering! 🇮🇹⛳
I had the chance to play at @verduraresortgolf , near Sciacca, on Sicily’s southern coast, and it’s a place that perfectly combines great golf with the beauty of the Mediterranean.

Two championship courses designed by Kyle Phillips, surrounded by olive groves, with spectacular holes overlooking the sea. And when the sea breeze picks up, the challenge gets even more interesting!
But there’s so much more to discover beyond the fairways.

You can explore the charming seaside town of Sciacca or head to Agrigento’s Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most impressive archaeological sites in the Mediterranean.

Add incredible Sicilian food, beautiful beaches and that unmistakable Mediterranean atmosphere, and you have all the ingredients for an unforgettable golf trip.
Because playing golf in Italy is also about discovering everything that surrounds the course. 🇮🇹 @leadingcourses

Would you consider Sicily for your next golf trip?

Golfbaan Hitland, Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel 🦢⛳

🏆 SCORES 7.3/10 on @leadingcourses · 4.1/5 on @hole19golf — quality of the course is very very very poor, fairways are rubish, no on seems to rake bunkers (apparently nor do the greenkeepers), rough is way to high. Explains the 55 euro greenfee, apparently they cut costs big time to not maintain the course.

📊 STATS Par 71 · Course rating 71.1 · Slope 126 · 5,819 yards · Designed by Gerard Jol · Opened 1995

🌿 CONDITIONS Practice facilities include a driving range with 40 bays, 20 covered and all lit for evening use, plus two putting greens with free access. The pro shop — Jumbo Golf Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel — covers over 500m² of retail and equipment — one of the biggest golf retail setups near Rotterdam.

📖 ORIGIN STORY Set in the scenic Park Hitland, surrounded by lush greenery, water bodies and diverse wildlife — the area is home to over 60 bird species. Located between Gouda and Rotterdam, opened September 1995, public course with rates accessible for everyone — this was always built as a course for the people, not the members.

🎯 COURSE VIBE Water, tree lines, some narrow fairways and bunkers provide enough challenge for a course this accessible. The holes are varied, with water features and natural obstacles adding strategic depth. A 9-hole par-3 course is also on site, ideal for beginners or those refining their short game. Slope of 126 — honest and fair, not a pushover.

🏁 BOTTOM LINE Hitland is Rotterdam’s most accessible public golf option — great practice infrastructure, nature reserve setting, friendly green fees and no membership barrier. Don’t expect Lage Vuursche. Do expect a genuinely enjoyable polder round with a massive pro shop and evening range sessions. Exactly what a public course should be ⛳
