Just a handful of spreads from the February/March issue of @besthealthmag.
.
This issue marks a bit of a re-imagining of both the art and editorial. When we were rethinking the structure of the magazine, we wanted to see whether or not we could break free from traditional sections like “Beauty” and “Food” and reflect the fact that every single aspect of your life can be looked at through a lens of health and wellness. So the new @besthealthmag comes to you with three new sections: Vitals, our front-of-book, which aims to educate, inform and introduce fresh points of view; Goods which highlights new and tried-and-true products that can help solve everyday problems; and our features section, which will be devoted to in-depth looks at the people, places, ideas and issues that matter most to your health.
.
None of this would be possible without these incredible contributors: @suechandbeck, @frannyalder, @christievuong, @bykayounglee, @rachelwada, @daniirey, @rainaandwilson, @shealynn.noyes, @plutinomodels, @terridacquisto, @leannekelly.ca, @plutinogroup, @sandrasyang, @fuzereps, @daniela.fuze, @leeandracianci, @salini.banana, @meaghanway

@besthealthmag’s new nameplate, set in @kilo.type's Queens. She's pretty, right?
.
I was digging around for something that was rooted in the kinds of fonts women's magazines have been using for decades (read: Bodonis and Didots) but was willing to get a little weird. Enter, Queens.
.
I'm a sucker for the stories type designers build around their typefaces. So on first glance, I fell in love with that leaning a. Then I read this tidbit: “Queens’ strength lies in the understanding that diversity and quirk are to be embraced, and that expectations of rhythm need to be broken in order to flourish.” AND THEN, @cvardanis masterfully personified that leaning a as the modern woman: she's balancing work, and kids, and life. She's beautiful, but damn she's tired.
