Don’t give up on TUCK HANDSTANDs. Here’s one of my FAVORITE WALL SLIDER DRILLS! It’s hard to move from back to wall into a tuck and sliding in chest wall can feel very claustrophobic and heavy. So try this angle to wall slider drill because you will feel more of the sensation of a freestanding tuck with a little bit of support. Remember, you’re trying to keep your hips over shoulders over hands AND the shoulders open as the legs come down. Not sure about open shoulders versus closed? See my stories for a previous post. Let me know if this helps you. And don’t give up on your TUCK. ✅

IT’S NEVVVVVER TOO LATE! This is my MY mantra: WHY NOT? I am 6️⃣1️⃣yrs old. I learned to handstand at 50 right here on IG during a ‘press to handstand’ challenge! No gymnastics or tumbling background! Those first handstand holds hooked me on the handstand journey! You are never too old and it’s NEVER too late to learn new skills and get stronger.

WANNA FINALLY BREAK up with the WALL? It’s hard working solo (no spotter) but there’s always a drill! Grab a box (or counter or chair) and try these progressions! Beginners… 1️⃣ walk hands in and out. Can you stack hips over shoulders? Feeling good? 2️⃣ extend one leg and feel the balance 3️⃣ find 1/2 tuck, knee or shin rests on box 4️⃣ relax hip flexor and try floating off the box. 5️⃣ if you feel stable floating off the box, NOT pushing, extend up to full. Cartwheel out or return knees to the box! TIPs: push the ground away, elevate shoulders, weight centered in palms. Box drill inspo: @coachbachmann

STRADDLE PRESS drill. Does your straddle press feel heavy? It’s likely because you bring your shoulders forward ✅ to float your feet but you don’t have the strength or technique to bring the shoulders BACK to align over wrists. This drill uses a strap to help you feel when you’re leaning forward and assist in bringing your shoulders back over wrists. You will need to do other drills to actually build the strength by moving shoulders forward and back fully weighted on a bench or at the wall ( or using weights in the gym) over weeks and possibly months to build the strength you need to float your straddle press… in the meantime try this drill. It might just unlock your straddle press.
