What I’ll remember most about Parade is the long, heavy silence that would fall over the audience, before finally releasing into applause at the end of Act I. Throughout a very challenging process, the greatest reward was knowing our work had an impact and made audiences think and feel. I now viscerally understand how essential regional theatre is. Thank goodness theatres believe in this show and are bringing this story to new audiences. I fervently hope this isn’t my last production of Parade.

Leo Frank is buried about 25 minutes from where I live, and I finally had time to visit after closing. It’s jarring how small and unassuming his grave is compared to the magnitude of his legacy. It was a privilege to remember him with such a talented and generous cast, crew, musicians, and creative team, who were all committed to honoring his story. Thank you all. I learned so much from watching each of you work.
