A vision that goes far beyond art. Counterpublic is a moment to consider what it would it look like if everyone in the region could be connected at the same time to create an experience unlike anything in North America, where bold ideas and leaps forward are supported, encouraged, cheered on. Thank you for joining us to celebrate the beginning of Coyote Time, our 2026 exhibition! Thank you to the team at Powell Hall, our community, staff, artists, curators, and generous supporters. What a night — and this is just the tip of the iceberg. 📸 @renaissancetjs

Most stadiums are designed to stand out. This one was designed to fit in. As Lee Broughton, Chief Brand Architect of St. Louis CITY SC, explains - Energizer Park wasn’t meant to dominate the skyline, but to become part of it. That decision shapes everything - from how light reaches the streets to how fans move through the district on matchday. Watch the full “Royal Key” facility tour feature at the link in @sportsdissected’s bio. Designed by @hoknetwork in partnership with @snowkreilich. #StLouisCITYSC #SportsArchitecture #SportsDissected

How are you feeling here at the end of 2025? It has been quite a time, right? Counterpublic aims to speak to the moment and pose new paths forward, reimagining the role of art in public life. This work does not happen in a vacuum, but is built with the stories, celebrations, and struggles of our time alike. This year has marked a time of profound change in our region. From the impacts of the federal administration’s funding shifts on us and our partners to the more localized effects of the May 16th tornado and recent loss of a primary exhibition venue through a devastating fire, the year has given us a lot to respond to with urgency and generosity, as well as a profound sense of gratitude for the ways our community has come together. In 2025, we: → Partnered with the IISTL @iistl → Selected exhibition hubs → Supported ongoing tornado relief efforts in The Ville neighborhood → Opened our new offices in Grand Center → Completed the rematriation of Sugarloaf Mound → Welcomed 1,200 attendees to CIRCUS OF LIFE, our inaugural Convening → Launched our membership program, Public Benefit Society → Prepared for Counterpublic 2026, opening September 12! We cannot accomplish this work without you. We believe 2026 will be a watershed season for Counterpublic and for St. Louis. Please offer your support by becoming a member of our Public Benefit Society, providing a matching gift through your employer, or joining our commissioners circle. We’re excited to highlight Lee Broughton, who brings a powerful project perspective to the Design for Belonging panel, representing the vision behind Energizer Park, a transformative, community-centered public space rooted in belonging and civic pride. As St. Louis CITY SC’s Chief Brand Architect and member of the team’s ownership group, Lee Broughton spent the last 5+ years as the visionary and driving force behind every aspect of the St. Louis CITY SC brand, including the name, crest, kit, stadium design and fan experience. Broughton’s vision for a world-class, open-air stadium that would reflect the best of St. Louis provided the inspiration for the architectural team behind CITY SC’s new STLMade 22,500-seat stadium, Energizer Park. In addition to his role with St. Louis’ Major League Soccer team, Broughton also is the cofounder of Counterpublic, a triennial public art exhibition that weaves contemporary art into the daily life of St. Louis. The next edition launches mid-September 2026. Broughton also founded and runs his own brand strategy practice, Broughton Brand Company (BBC), which worked closely with Greater St. Louis Inc and other leading St. Louis business development organizations to create and launch the STLMade movement. A tireless advocate for the city of St. Louis, Broughton serves on the board of directors for The Pulitzer Arts Foundation, Nine PBS St Louis, and the John Burroughs School. After the panel, please stay to connect with Lee, ask questions, and gain insight into his work shaping St. Louis through visionary design, brand identity, and community-focused projects.

Thanks to @ck0518 and team for this incredible honor. Pro tip: ⚽️is ⚽️ but it’s futbol when your opponent is from London.
