Swipe to the end to see the reason i made this film. Whenever you do a film you put your trust in a group of people to take an idea in your head and put it to life. It’s daunting, it can be frustrating, it can make you cry, wanna quit or even give up. But like family, you’re stuck with them, and like family i have loved time with every single person on this shoot. So much that by the end of it i felt hollow, i couldnt believe id have to wait to work with this group again (if I’m lucky enough) Id like to use my platform to sing the praises of my team now. producers amir and suvi who helped create everything i needed, from the world i wanted to build down to the last detail they worked overtime to get things sorted and issues ironed out. I don’t know two more dedicated people who would do this better The brilliant actors Rīhari, Val, Shim, James, Jim, made whatever i wrote better than i could have put on script. The secondary characters as well as the extras down to the last person were unreal. Leigh has an eye for framing that elevates what i do and takes it above and beyond but more than that having a close friend do work with you is one of amazing feelings, i wouldnt wanna do something without him Spencer (and cole) were wizards with lighting and shaped everything beyond beautifully, truly it left me thinking i need to learn more about the art form. Laura was our backbone the entire production, from the magnificent costume design to the props which brought the world to life, but also just being the most positive person on set is something that goes beyond the job Eden is one of my fav sound technicians, just because he is so chill, easy to work with and i find it hilarious when he smacks the boom pole into things. Ike and mirene my two ADs on set kept perfect time, gathered the crew and allowed me to do my best I just yelled action… I love you guys ❤️ thank you for everything. It would be an honour and a privilege if we get to do this again.

🎥 BTS of my first little short film ‘First Kiss’. Selected to screen at @mistyflicksfilmfestival 6-8 November in Te Awamutu. Fun fact: those curlers got so stuck in my hair that they had to be cut out, some disintegrated as I squeezed them. Bits and pieces everywhere! Last pic was the night before during the production meeting. Happened to flow with gins, ginger and gingins, ginger beer and ginger nuts 😂 Thanks for the fun weekend! @leeman09 @chrislambertfilms @melanieeade #shortfilm #writer #director #editor #actor

Some moments deserve to be celebrated. Tonight we were honoured to join Tineke and Chris at their cast and crew screening - a chance to celebrate all the hard work, dedication, and passion that went into bringing this project to life. Seeing her on the big screen was incredibly special, and we couldn’t be prouder. Congratulations, Tineke. What a wonderful milestone, and hopefully just the beginning of many more to come. #CastAndCrew #ScreeningNight #BridgewayCinema #ProudMoment #NZFilm

I started putting all of my energy into acting in January 2025 — to end the year as the lead in a short film, in the literal final week, is a dream. Not only do I get to do what I so deeply love, but I get to meet some incredible people along the way. Can’t wait to share more. This one’s special ❤️ Writer/Director | @sixteenleo_ Producer | @suvicchi DOP | @leeman09 1st AD | @johnnyfiveee Sound Op | @fmwh_nz 2nd AD | @rebelchromatic Talent | @tommy_crane94 @julie.collis @davidccapstick

STORY TIME… its the last day of 2025. I wrapped up shooting on a short film i wrote and directed, but it goes deeper than that. Ive had a passion for movie making since i was a kid, and at the start of this year i got to make my first project, and i want to be honest. It left me broken, i had a lot to learn but the environment felt bad. I cried alone in my room the first night. Before the year ended though, i had one goal, make another film and feel like i did better. This time i got my bestie and producer @suvicchi and i told her one thing, i want to vibe with this crew. She came through. We casted actors @tommy_crane94 and @journeyof.jess and they turned what little i wrote into magic. @davidccapstick and @julie.collis were such professionals i was watching more than directing. I then met @leeman09 and even though i wanted to do the camerawork myself once i saw him operate, it was over, he turned these shots into something i couldn’t even dream off. @fmwh_nz came through with the sound and i was in awe of how good he was at literally everything,I’ve never seen someone more locked in, especially working with actors. After that i met @johnnyfiveee my AD who kept everything running smooth and also designed maybe the best shot of the film. Lastly @rebelchromatic who was a fan of my yt channel and wanted to help out, it turned into more than that, and who took most of these amazing photos. To end the story, we shot in horrible conditions, for some reason everyone trusted me, there were 0 complaints, we did reshoots, everyone went along with my crazy idea, and at the end of the final day of shooting, something happened. I cried alone, again, but this time they were tears of joy. On the last production a crew member told me i wouldnt get far with my attitude and i needed to treat crew like family for them to work well with me. All i can say is, its nearly 2026, and i think i finally found my family 🫶🏾 onto the next.

I find something extremely satisfying about food animation and fake food in movies - do you agree? The most budget and beginner friendly of all the film set props I handcrafted for our fantasy short film ‘The Little Knight’ was this forbidden meat. From conception and crafting ideas to the actual realistic food crafting, this process was all fairly straight-forward, even though I have never tried anything like this before!
