Sunday was such a beautiful community event. 🍵

I’m grateful that I could reach out to community and say, “Hey, I have this book I’m writing. Help me launch it,” and the way people showed up still has me at a loss for words. 🥹

From Fern of @blackvines_ offering us wine, to the great food from @juslaeats , friends who came in from out of town, those who helped set up, brought flowers, created at the bookmark table, purchased books, and simply came to be present…thank you. 💐

I’m grateful that CAPACI-TEA is now getting into the hands of people. Something that started with my own questions, stories, reflections, tea rituals, and conversations now gets to become part of someone else’s. 📖

@niemajordan , thank you for always having the conversations with me around tea time, whether in community or one on one, for showing up, asking the questions, and helping me think deeper. 🫂

To my family from afar, thank you for understanding that pouring into this book and into me meant more than flying across the country. I value and appreciate the ways you showed up.💓

And seeing my nieces and nephews running, playing, and creating together was its own kind of joy. It is an honor to be AunTEA and to have them growing up around this work and community. 🤩

CAPACI-TEA is about the conversations we have with ourselves and each other about what we have capacity for, what we need to release, what fills our cups, and what becomes possible when we make room. 🙇🏽‍♀️

Sunday reminded me that community is part of that capacity. Thank you for helping me launch this book with so much love. 🪷

There is something about seeing something you’ve carried for so long finally become real. 🥹

And even more, getting to experience that moment surrounded by people who have seen me, poured into me, loved me, supported me, and believed in the things I’ve carried long before they had a name, a cover, or pages you could hold.

These pictures mean so much to me. As soon as I got the box in the mail I was able to speed over to @leeshag who received the first copy and made a video of me opening I’ll always cherish. FaceTime and text my friends. And sit in gratitude 🤎

Because CapaciTea may have my name on it, but I know what it means to be poured into. I know what it means to have people remind you of your capacity when life has made you question it. And I know how much of what we are able to create comes from having people in our lives who simply see us.

The book is here, y’all. 🥹🍵

And now I’m ready for you to experience it.

On February 22, @1800happybirthday joined @blackjoyparade and became a centerpiece of the Healing Village with a public art installation. 🖼️📞🎂

This collaboration started out as an idea between Elisha Greenwell and @bjmcbride23 on how to bring the Healing Village back. It turned into a powerful activation that centered both grief and joy.
