Everyone thinks being fit at nearly 50 means living in the gym. It doesn't. Here's my Saturday. A walk with Bruno before anyone's up.
A long ride while my daughter's at gymnastics. Training for the Lefkara Classic, the hardest one-day event in Cyprus.
A swim at a new beach with my wife.
Then the football in Ayia Napa with Becky 😍. I've learnt this over the last 20 years. I didn't train until 33.
I reversed Type 2.
I broke my neck at 44 and was told I'd never walk again.
I'm still recovering, and I'm in the best shape of my life. My training doesn't take time away from my family.
It's what lets me keep up with them. More energy. Better sleep. A clearer head. Saturdays like this one. None of it came from a fad. If you're 40+ and want your weekends back without living in the gym, comment KICKSTART and I'll send you my free 21-Day Kickstart programme.

For my riders and followers in the UAE, this one is worth a look. The Lefkara Classic returns on 15 November, here in Cyprus. You'll be coming out of the summer and straight into your racing season, so the timing works well: something concrete to build towards, and an honest test of where your form is before the season proper starts. Two routes to pick from. The Grand is 166km with 4,755m of climbing. The Demi is 74km with 2,035m. Choose the one that suits where you are right now. There's a full week around the ride as well, with guest riders, a pasta party and prizes, so it's worth making a trip of it. I'm based in Cyprus now and have partnered with the Agora Hotel and the event. If enough of you fancy it, I'll look at running a training camp out here in the days before, so you can come for the ride or the full block. Comment LEFKARA and I'll send you the registration link.
