Three years ago today I arrived in Israel. These clips go some way towards portraying the deepest, most exciting time in my life so far, right up to this week.

Thank you to every single person (so many of whom are featured above, except for my wonderful family whom I feel with me every moment from afar) who helped make it so. In recent weeks I’ve understood that I’m only getting started here, which is even more thrilling to consider!

(And yes, I wrote the Hebrew alone: I now speak and write in Hebrew along with everything else (without ulpan😉)!)

I don’t think I became an artist because I loved to sing. I think I became one because sometimes I just couldn’t find the words for what I was feeling.

So I made up stories and songs and showed it instead.

Building an artist takes a whole world. 🏰✨

From walking through Nahalat Binyamin choosing fabrics, to sketches, fittings, details, and a team that understood the vision before it even existed…

We didn’t just make a dress. We built the world of Damsel in Distress. 🦂🐪 🏜️

It takes a village. 🤍

A new year. Rosh Hashana.

We carry so much weight without even realizing it — old expectations, old fears, old versions of ourselves, and things that were never ours to carry in the first place.

If there’s anything I wish you, it’s to stop searching outside yourself for belonging.

Stop waiting for permission to become who you already are.

Realize that finding your way home can also mean finding your way back to yourself.

What if the Damsel in Distress was never waiting for a prince to save her? 🏰👑

Maybe she was just trying to find her way home.

This song is about that search — for belonging, for safety, for the place where all the different pieces of who I am could finally exist together.

Maybe the fairytale ending is realizing you can become that home for yourself.

Shoutout to @maor_gridish for turning this story into an actual cinematic desert fairytale 🎥✨🏜️

What do you guys think?

I spent so much of my life searching for my own version of home.

Growing up as a third culture kid, between countries and languages, “where are you from?” was never a simple question for me. You can belong to so many places and somehow still spend your whole life wondering where you truly belong.

So I wrote a song about it.

I’ve always loved fairytales. The princesses, the faraway places, the idea that somewhere out there was a place you were meant to belong. ✨

‘Damsel in Distress’ came from that search. From feeling lost. From wanting to be found. From holding onto faith when I didn’t have all the answers.

Home isn’t always a place. Most of the time it’s a feeling.

This one is for anyone who’s spent their life searching for belonging. I hope you find your way home. 🤍

A reminder that recording is STRICTLY prohibited at Fortress. But this video found its way to me, and I thought it would be a pity not to share it, since some guests missed the performance due to a scheduling change.

Thank you to everyone who performed in and attended my first party outside beautiful Jaffa last Thursday. It was such a pleasure to organise this ambitious night; a massive privilege to do so at Fortress, by far the coolest venue in the city; and a very positive sign of what we can achieve in the future.

On that note, to anyone who was unable to make this event: Don't worry! There will be plenty more!

I have more footage from rehearsals which I'm sure the Fortress team won't mind me sharing (but I'll check first).

(N.B. It is plain to see that the person recording is NOT @leiaj, who appears in the video.)
