“Dear Pelican,” directed by John Meier, is a heartwarming and powerful Utah documentary about the Great Salt Lake. We are so pleased to share this film with you at this year’s Orem Film Festival at the Geneva Megaplex on September 23rd. Join us in auditorium 9 for a live Q&A with the filmmakers! Dear Pelican Directed by John Meier @adventurewithjohn Thousands of American White Pelicans were forced to abandon their nesting grounds on Gunnison Island as the receding waters of the Great Salt Lake exposed them to new dangers. Now, a group of students from Emerson Elementary is bringing their voices to the Utah State Capitol, using art to share the story of the pelicans.

Last year, I directed Reflections, a documentary about the intersection between stained glass and spirituality. In just a couple of days a documentary that I edited will premiere at the Salt Lake City Public Library! This documentary means whole lot to me and to our Utah community as a whole. The true measure of a society is how it treats its most vulnerable members. It would mean the world to me if you came by to view one of my best works yet! We’re excited to announce our latest project! We are partnering with the amazing people at Leicester Documentary Non-Profit on our upcoming short documentary highlighting the powerful bond we share with our pets, and how Ruff Haven Crisis Sheltering helps people stay with their pets through times of hardship. This film tells the story of individuals navigating homelessness, recovery, and housing instability, showing how their animals are more than companions. They are stability, connection, and a reason to keep going. Ruff Haven provides a safe place for pets, so their owners can focus on rebuilding their lives. Our documentary aims to bring visibility to that mission. In addition to being producers on this project, Leicester Documentary Productions is also acting as our fiscal sponsor with their 501(c)(3) status. This means all donations are tax-deductible and all proceeds directly support the completion of the film and its impact campaign. We are currently wrapping up production, and are aiming to complete the film by May 30, followed by a festival run and community screenings. 🎬✨ Just last night, the first ever Orem Film Festival happened. 🙌 Ten incredible filmmakers shared their short films on the big screen — six from right here in Utah and others from across the country. Join us in Auditorium 10 for a live Q&A with director @claire.tim3 and the star of this great documentary @alasorusglassengineer Reflections follows Allison, an art glass engineer whose work includes restoring church windows across Salt Lake City as well as creating original pieces. Through her reflections on religion and glass, the film explores how art can serve as a spiritual bridge to the world around us. Directed by Claire Timothy, Reflections showcases her ability to capture intimate portraits. Timothy continues her mission to create work that helps audiences connect more deeply with themselves.
