POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Never Forget. 25 years later. 💔🇺🇸

On September 11, 2001, 2,977 people lost their lives in the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93, and countless families were changed forever.

I wasn’t alive yet. I don’t know what that morning actually felt like. But my mom, dad, teachers, friends, and family can all still tell me every detail about their experience that morning.

This year, I climbed the equivalent of 110 floors in remembrance of the people we lost and the first responders.

But my climb really doesn’t matter.

I made this video because I believe that stories like Josephine’s, David’s, Michael’s, and Tina’s are what really matter.

Josephine Harris was evacuating the North Tower from the 73rd floor when, around the 20th floor, she physically couldn’t keep going. Six firefighters from Ladder 6 risked their lives and stayed with her instead of leaving her behind. When the North Tower collapsed, they were still together inside Stairwell B. Somehow, by God’s grace, they survived, and the firefighters later called Josephine their “guardian angel.”

Michael Benfante was working on the 81st floor of the North Tower. While evacuating, he and John Cerqueira found Tina Hansen, who used a wheelchair, on the 68th floor. Instead of leaving her behind, they put her in an evacuation chair and carried her down 68 floors. All three of them made it out alive.

That’s what this video is about.

Not just what happened to America that day, but what people did for each other when everything went wrong.

People carried strangers. First responders ran into buildings. Some gave their lives for people they had never even met.

That, to me, is the indomitable American spirit. Never forget.
