Last Wednesday the Student Senate passed Bill 56, titled “The Eddie Fordham Act.”Sponsored by Senators Leila Jackson and Bella Rios and developed in partnership with the Office of the Attorney General, this bill marks a major first step for justice-impacted students on our campus.

This new legislation opens the doors for students who have experienced a felony conviction to serve in SGA positions, expanding SGA’s commitment to inclusive representation.

As the bill’s namesake, Eddie Fordham, puts it: “This change ensures that students with complex backgrounds can step into leadership and be seen for their strengths, not their past.”

We are proud to take this step toward a campus where everyone can meaningfully participate in student government. Read more at the linked FSView article in our bio! #FSU #SGA #studentsservingstudents
