For so long, my body had one job. Perform.

Everything I did had a purpose, a goal, and a result I was working towards.

After retirement, learning to appreciate my body for what it can do, rather than what it can achieve, has been a completely different challenge.

The goalposts change. The motivation changes. And sometimes, the hardest part is letting go of the expectations you once had of yourself.

It’s a strange adjustment going from pushing your body to its absolute limits to simply moving because it feels good. But I’m learning that exercise doesn’t always need to be about achieving something.

Has anyone else had to completely rethink their relationship with exercise as they got older?

At Hers, we’re on a mission to treat women better. And we can’t do that alone.

To help shape the future of women's health in Australia, we’ve brought together the Hers Women’s Health Advisory Panel.

They're Aussie icons who are advising us from both a clinical and community perspective — and we've kicked things off with a roundtable conversation that’s long overdue.

Introducing four extraordinary women who have changed the game for women in Australia:

Dr Jana Pittman, dual Olympian and medical doctor,
Dr Gina Cleo, dietitian and habit expert,
Leisel Jones, Olympic gold medallist and media commentator, and
Cathy Freeman, Olympic gold medallist and philanthropist.

Between them: numerous Olympic medals and world championships, medical degrees and PhDs, and decades of experience in their respective fields.

They are women who have led the way for others in sport, science and public life. And still, they’re asking the same questions about their health as the rest of us.

In this roundtable, they get honest about their own experiences and what a healthcare system that actually works for women should look like.

They’ve partnered with Hers to help shape the future of women’s health in Australia and make sure every woman gets the care she deserves.

Watch the full conversation via the link in bio.
