january is moving quickly and i am desperately waiting for the sun to rise earlier and for the warmth to ease in soon. i’ve been dabbling in multiple books recently because i can’t tame the mood-reader inside me. i have a lot of reviews lined up that i am excited to share in the future.

i’ve recently finished Binti by Nnedi Okorafor and i’m astounded that this isn’t spoken about more. this sci-fi short story collection truly packs a punch and i breezed through it hungrily. will be releasing a full review because it deserves more attention!

also working on the ARC for My Friends by Fredrik Backman and i’ve already cried twice for his work never fails to move me. there’s something so simplistically beautiful and emotional about his writing that always pulls me back. i am baffled at the amount of quotes that i already have saved. i’m glad Fredrik is putting more light to platonic love stories!

Sweater Weather Reading Tag

I was tagged in this by @yucaesthe a while ago and I completely forgot about it until right now. We had our first snowfall of the season this week and I’ve officially broken out all my sweaters, cardigans and coats, so it’s the perfect time for me to finally participate in the tag.

❄️Cable Knit // Three books that have become an essential part of you:

✨Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead by Olga Tokarczuk

❄️Turtleneck // A bookish habit that you try to hide:
✨Skipping paragraphs or even whole pages when I’m not liking or enjoying the book I’m reading. It feels like cheating but I can’t help myself.

❄️Oversized // Comfort book:
✨That’s gotta be Pride & Prejudice. I think it’s the book I’ve re-read the most and no matter how many times I return, it never disappoints.

❄️Worn but comfortable // Your favorite literary themes:
✨Coming of age, womanhood, introspection, neurodivergent psychology and female companionship are probably the themes that all appear in books I love most.

❄️The Go-To // Your usual genre:
✨I don’t really have a usual genre, I like too many of them. Gun to my head, I’d have to say contemporary literary fiction or historical fiction, I guess.

❄️Everyday Hoodie // Character you relate to:
✨Kokoro Anzai in Lonely Castle in the Mirror, Janet in O Caledonia and You in Tennis Lessons!

✨I would never! I have, however, been on the receiving end. I lent a book to a schoolmate in 2018 and I have yet to get it back, despite my best efforts. Ironically, that book is The Book Thief. It may be time to give up on it, but J. S. if you’re reading this, I want my book back!

usually i read the dreary, dark, dystopian and depressing, but recently i have been absolutely craving something lighthearted, something wholesome to make me smile and giggle and kick my feet. let me know if anyone has any cozy, happy-go-lucky reads! the “positive” books i am currently reading consist of:

🦇TOP FIVE FAVES: SPOOKY EDITION🦇

It is October, and I am (mostly) only posting spooky related content. So when I got tagged by @lit_laugh_luv to do the Top 5 faves tag, I knew what I had to do..

I am sure most people who know me well, or even a little bit, know how much I love spooky things! I love spooky movies, music, art, shows, you name it. So this was not a hard challenge for me at all to find my favourite spooky things. The only one that was maybe a challenge was picking my favourite TV shows, as I surprisingly don’t watch a ton of spooky scary TV. I would have probably just put down all American Horror Story (AHS) seasons that I favour, but I wanted to have a bit more variety. Speaking of, do not come for me for my favourite AHS season, I LOVE Roanoke and I do not understand how people don’t like it. It is perfect and scary af and I am not debating this topic!!
